Synthetic oil is a waste of your hard earned time and money. Do it with dino every 3-4 months and enjoy your engine and watch as it outlasts the frame of your car.

JavaMan,
You don't know...who cares about syn. Do it with dino every 3-4k and rest at ease. Your cars engine will outlast the subframe and all sheet metal regardless of oil used.

Thats such a broad statement.
What about users like myself that normaly see over 230* oil temp?..and yes this is a street driven car with those temps.

Yeah, take your "hard earned money" and do like the complete dork in Pep Boys last summer: brag in a real loud voice to your friend about the $4,000 you just dropped on "new rims, tires, and a kicka$$ stereo, what with fourteen speakers (in a Civic, mind you), subwoofer, yadda, yadda , yadda. At that point, reach the oil filter aisle and exclaim in a louder voice, "ain't Norfolk and Waypal that I'd spend $5.99 on an oil filter (PureOne). That's a ripoff!"

If you want to extend your OCI beyond 4k and have your engine outlast your over-priced stereo and your rusting sheetmetal, go full synthetic.

M-1 EP
Platinum
GC
Synpower

Mobil 1.

Why? It's the factory fill for...

Chevrolet Corvette
Cadillac
AMG
Aston Martin
Porsche
Bentley
MB SLR McLaren
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
Ford Mustang Cobra R
Dodge Viper

All things being equal (ie, $4 a quart), why would you go against the engineers behind those vehicles?

Sticking to the choices:

1. Mobil 1
2. GC
3. Pennzoil Platinum
4. Quaker state Q
5. Valvoline Synpower
6. Castrol syntec

M1 receives top honors because of availablity, price and the variety of grades it's offered in.

Grbr95, some cars REQUIRE synthetic per the owner's manual (VWs in particular). Better to pay the extra $30 for the oil change, get the extended OCIs, and protect your warranty in case something actually does go wrong in the first 5 years or 60k miles.

Go with what the manufacturer recommends. They designed the car, so the should know what it needs.
