Synthetic Oil Recommendation

2004 Volvo S60R, stock, 300 hp, 102,*** miles.
• 2.5L turbocharged engine
• Daily driver
• 40 miles round trip to work
• mostly back roads little highway
• very little stop and go, little traffic
• 40-45 mph average speed
• occasional autocrossing
• located in Maine

Using AMSOIL 0w30 with 7,500 mile drain intervals since AMSOIL doesn’t have an extended life oil filter. Someone recommended I switch to AMSOIL ACD SAE 30/10w30 (diesel oil) for cost reasons as well as better protection then many other oils. I’m wondering if that would be okay or would the fact that it does not contain paraffin (wax) or have certain additives or lack of additives harm my engine?

Your vehicle and info sounds relatively close to my car's.
I run their SSO in my turbo motor.
You could probably change filters and simply add oil for the small amount lost, but that's up to you.
I have cartridge filters, so I just swap them out when I want to.

Mine is a cartridge style filter housed inside some sort of plastic casing...I never thought of just changing the filter and topping it off...

I am assuming you are after long (10000 mile++) OCIs?? If so why not just continue what you are doing?? There are many good quality filters out there (hastings, donaldson, mobil 1) that will all serve you well for 10k miles...after that your options are probably either SSO with two filter changes per interval or a bypass setup, which for most cars, is a bit of a waste.

Oh man, you're golden then.
Let the car sit a while after driving and then remove the filter. You won't lose much oil at all once you let it settle in the system.
Continue running a long OCI. Just use a quality filter (visually inspect those for your model -- WIX, PureOne, etc.) and change it more often. Because of lesser filter media than a canister might have, I would change the filter 3-5k. Running SSO, I'll likely change ever 3k since I bought a few WIX at a time.

He has missed the Amsoil EAO filters. Warrantied for 25k or one year whichever comes first. I believe these filters are made by Donaldson. Not a dealer just a preferred customer.
