Has anybody used 49 North oils before?
I found a 0W-30 they have that has a cold pour point of -59C!

QUALITIES
49 North® 100% Full Synthetic Arctic Grade Engine Oils provide outstanding thermal and oxidative stability ensuring the long-term
integrity of the product even after repeated cold starts and prolonged exposure to extremely high engine operating temperatures.
The wax free synthetic stocks with extremely low pour points ensures the rapid flow of oil throughout the engine after cold start up
providing the instant protection required during the period that the engine is most vulnerable to wear. The high TBN (Total Base Number)
of 12.5 reduces engine deposits, most notably in critical piston ring grooves, and maintains power in low emission engines.

What are your thoughts on this oil?

It's GRP4 at best, not Slick 50.

I am wondering because my neighbor sells it and he can get it to me at the same price as i can get Esso XD3 0W-30. I will look at the specs for the XD3 seeing that it is a known PAO.

So does anybody think that it could actually pull off a -59C pour point?
That is the biggest reason I would buy it over Esso XD3 0W-30.

I would go with the Esso. When was the last time it got to -59 without wind where you are?

I live in a river valley and it is at least 5C cooler than out if the valley. This winter we have gotten a few nights of -50C and last winter hit -55C twice. I have experinced -72C a few times in my life...yes, in Alberta!
