I'm not sure if this is it or not but it looks like a WPP engine oil. I.e supertech, mag1, ect..

The oil in question is not a WPP product nor is it Mobil. The company that's doing it is a brand trying to make a comeback.

I'd use it if the price were good and it was spec'd and licensed for the application I had need for. But that can be said for just about any lube.

If it has the appropriate approval and I was under warranty then yes I would use it. So op you said this company is trying to make a comeback. I don't think I'd wish the oil business on my worst enemy. I hope they have bucket loads of marketing money and a serious add campaign.

Gulf is a brand name only AFAIK. Someone is doing the blending and packageing for them. WPP would be a good guess as to the blender that would do this. FWIW--Oldtommy

I see no issues, other than that I hope they'll seek at least a couple OEM certifications beyond simply CJ-4/SM and want to market this as a semi-synthetic.
