I'm just wondering what the going prices are for brands like Mobil 1, Castrol Edge and Pennzoil Platinum in the States.

In Kuwait, M1 (5W-30, 0W-40, 5W-50) and Edge (5W-40, 10W-60) go for $12.00 per litre. PP (5W-30, 10W-30) is $8.95 per quart, only available at Ace Hardware. Fuchs Titan (5W-30) goes for around $10.70 per litre. Total offers a 5W-40 synthetic for $9.90 per litre, and another French brand (Cofran) has a 5W-50 offering for $10.75 a litre.

You also have lesser known brands, such as a full synthetic 10W-50 from the British firm Morris Lubricants for $6.95 per litre. Lexus have their own 5W-40, which goes for $6.60 a litre.

Then again, in the UK I used to pay $20.00 per litre of Castrol Edge 0W-30 - until I found Mobil 1 0W-40 for $8 per litre from CostCo, which is what I later switched to for my Maxima.

Morris Lubricants in the UK is an old line, family owned oil company that produces excellent lubricants. If they were in the USA they would be in comparison to Schaeffer's Oil.

Sorry to get off topic, but they have costcos in England?

i bought a 5 quart jug of super tech 5w30 oil from walmart, (Their store brand ) for 17.50. Pp in the same size and weight was $23.00

OT as it's for pricing in Canada. In general synthetic and conventional oil prices in Canada have been on the way up for a while. 1L bottles of Mobil 1 at Canadian Tire (large national retail chain) are starting at $9.79 CAD, M1 EP is $12.99 CAD. M1 motorcycle oils are now at $15.99 CAD. Amsoil motorcycle oils (MCF, MCV) are at $19.99 CAD. I'm not sure of the prices at Walmart, but they cannot be too far off.

Walmart seems to have the best discounts on conventional oils, especially when there is a bottle format changeover.

That's good news. Friend of mine uses their Multi-life Competition 10W-50 religiously in his '01 Mercedes-Benz S500. He keeps it for 6,250 miles, which I suppose is fair enough - even though I feel he can get 10,000 miles out of it easily.

I should have mentioned Canada as well actually. Prices in Canada seem to be pretty much similar to ours.
