Syntec vs. Platinum

Heh. Since Syntec has AT LEAST 3 different concurrently produced theories of formulation and Platinum has AT LEAST 2 different concurrently produced theories of formulation, your question is meaningless.

Whichever one is cheaper after sales/rebates will give the better performance per cost...so IMO that would be the qualifier of "better" between two good oils.

We need to know more about these oils in order to to know which is better.

1. No one knows for sure what the base oils are

2. The base oils are probably different among different weights

3. We need a VOA of each to see what else is in them.

We simply don't know at this point.

Ive gotten great results with Syntec 5w30 in my Z. Ref my UOA GMZ's UOA Been running it for a while. Always got 5 qts for $20 ish at wallys so I cant complain about the price.Might switch back to it after this Amsoil is used up

I think PP hasn't been around long enough to give you a honest answer. That stuff needs to be put through its paces to see how it holds up and with what type of engine.
