Got the ABA 2.0 engine, i've got a Supercharger in the garage that i'm too lazy to put in but will be going in by the end of the year once i get my Cam in.

Naturally, being the German car owner that I am, I only use synthetic oils and now with the Supercharger i'll def. be using only synthetic.

I've always used Valvoline products and don't plan on changing my mind anytime soon.

Which would you guys recomend?
Valvoline synpower 5w40?
Or Maxlife Full synthetic 10w30?
Motor has about 95k on it, currently on a ARX rinse cycle, Absolutley no sludge or anything, 1300 miles into my rinse phase my oil is still yellow, my oil was still clear when i drained it after the clean phase.
I intend on doing either BG or Amsoil flush on my up coming change.
All that to say, this engine doesn't need a 'high mileage' oil, because i don't consider 95k high mileage and shes not stopping any time soon. That being said, i've heard very good things about Maxlife, which is why I am pondering using it even though it is a high mileage oil (which again, I do not need)
The PAO intrigues me..

Chevron Delo 400 SAE40 is definitely the oil for you!

"Valvoline synpower 5w40?
Or Maxlife Full synthetic 10w30?"

both excellent oils. Use the one that is the correct grade for your purposes.

I want an SM rated Synthetic oil. That throws GC and delo out the window.
I said i want to use Valvoline!
specifically, either the 5w40 synpower, since it meets the new VW specs, and 10/30 maxlife because of the pao, and since it's a thick 30 weight. it doesn't get nearly cold enough in GA to justify a 5 weight anyway

I think I'd trust the 10w30 to hold grade better than the 5w40. Also, if you want to thicken the 10w30 Maxlife, you could dump in half a quart or so of the 20w50 Synpower, which according to the MSDS is PAO.

FYI...Advanced Auto Parts in South FL has BOGO free synpower...might want to check your local store if they are in your area.

yea, we've got BOGO to but i'll have to chekc if AA will ship me some 5w40 since i've never seen it in stock there.

Again, i don't want an HDEO, i don't want a 15 grade, or 20w50, just between maxlife 10/30 or synpower 5w40.
It seems that most here are recomending the Synpower, honestly, i was expecting everyone to claim maxlife synthetic.
Synpower it is.

If it was between 10w30 Sypower and 10w30 Maxlife Synthetic, then unquestionably go with Maxlife Synthetic, but the 5w40 Synpower is very highly rated.

I'll put it this way. If there was a 10w40 Maxlife Synthetic I would say go Maxlife, but if you want the thicker oil and don't want to mix, the 5w40 Synpower would be the way to go. I don't know that you really have to go that much thicker, though. I run the Maxlife Synthetic in my 12000 pound 454 V8 motorhome and see no reason to go thicker when oil pressure hot at speed is 50+ psi. The Maxlife also has the moly, which is not listed for the Synpower.
