Went to walmart and they started carrying this and 0w-20 Synpower. Has anyone ever used the European formula? What type of add pack does it use? Similar to the regular Synpower? Thinking about trying it one OCI once my Eco is out of warranty to see if it will help with the fuel dilution and wear so I can extend my oci. That will be quite awhile yet. Don't care about the minimal fuel economy difference.

Yeah, but it was $7.17 at wal-mart when I was looking at it. You can get 6 qts from Amazon for something like $33 with subscribe and save. I just signed up and will use this oil in the 08 Rabbit.

M1 5w30 ESP is low SAPS and I didnt like its TBN retention over 5k in the rabbit. This being mid-SAPS (7.1, though a VOA on here gave 6.3), I think will be ideal for 5k.

Ah, nothing spectacular then. Think I'll stick with what I'm using unless I scored some M1 0-40. Thanks for the info

I dont know about that. Valvolne is known to do well despite not a lot seen in UOAs. Mid-SAPS is fine for 5-10k OCIs, I believe and will verify by UOA.

Im using it because the rabbit gives an oil change alert around 5k, so this is a good price point for a 5w-40 VW 502 oil, and the mid SAPS doesnt scare me so long as it holds TBN better than the M1 ESP.

M1 0w-40 isnt a bad oil either, but since I know I change around 6mo/5k miles, the price point of this makes it optimal, when purchased from Amazon.

But it is more $ than M1 at W-M.

That's what M1 0w-40 costs when on sale.

What doesn't impress me is it's low 167 VI and of course we don't know it's HTHSV since Valvoline doesn't provide that info.

Lets be honest here, it's not as good as the benchmark M1 0W-40, only a couple of oils are and they all cost more.
