on my 2007 3.8 dodge van i switched from Mobil 1 5w20 to ansoil 10-30 ,van calls for 5-20 but had 6 qts of 10-30 amsoil and thought i woiuld use it and see if mileage changed, about one time a month i drive 100 miles on interstate and i am going to see if any difference in my mileage, using Mobil 1 5w20 if i ave 70 mph i get 25 mpg and if i drive 65 mph i get 27 mpg . my best mileage is 60 mph but is to slow for interstate driving, old ladies in civics would run over me, you amsoil experts what do you think about running 10-30 in place of 5-20 in ohio for the summer temps?

Won't hurt the engine. I don't think it would affect mileage much though.
If it does not use oil I would run the 5w-20 myself if it were my van.

I'll bet you my next case of oil that your FE will go Down. 10-30 might help you keep the sludge monster away tho...shrug, I could be wrong tho.

Let me know how the expiriment goes. Steady highway driving I doubt you will observe much difference. I wish my Jeep Wrangler with the same engine got near the same mileage as your van.
dont know when i will get to do the exact check, but just drove 65 mikes on city interstate to garden center then had to take wife to custard stand, then again on interstate to golf course, round trip 46 miles and the again to golf course in city and probable altogether about a dozen traffic lights and now shows 26.3 mpg. not sure if amsoil helpes or not, going to have to give out my van for 2 weeks to my daughter who is visiting from florida and i will have to force myself to drive one of my sons twin turbo stealths that is highly modified, probably never exceded 65 as our roads are so crouded 60 is about all you can do
did my route today and drove with traffic in town and between 65 and 69 on interstate, stopped at exit to get a mcdonalds sandwich as usual and mileage showed 28.4 , mydaughter drove us to dinner, about 30 miles out and back thru wooster ohio and mileage dropped to 25.1 my wife drove the 50 miles back and mileage came back up to 27.2 when home, still not sure amsoil is improving my mileage but it appears so, also temp was 62 degrees this morning which may have helped, hard to believe 30 weight amsoil would do better than my 20 weight did. but who knows, maybe make the amsoil dealers happy.
