Swine flu vaccine - would you take it ?

Oh geesh, it's just a flu shot. There's nothing special about it. It was prepared in the same way flu shots have been prepared for years. The only concern is getting it out there quicker b/c of the nature of the virus and its transmission. As I've said earlier in the thread, I've already had one kid contract it and the whole family has been on tamiflu. My kid came out the luckiest as she suffered from flu for a much shorter period than than the rest of us had to deal with taking tamiflu. Seriously, fever for a day and a half? I've had worse sinus infections.

They told us on the news.

Due to the massive number of doses required, they are cutting the amount of "active ingredient", and including an adjuvent (which isn't used in the normal vaccines) to stimulate the immune system to respond better to the reduced amount of active material...up to 10 times better.

Problem is (and this wasn't in the news) that the adjuvents are though (by some) to over stimulate the rest of the immune system, causing auto-immune responses in some people.

It's not the "normal" flu vaccine model.

You're citing adjuvant as reason that it's different? Adjuvents are used in any number of vaccines that kids get regularly. LOL, then forgive me-the process for making the active vaccine agent is the same.

BTW, have you ever heard the one about fluoridation and the attempt to poison our precious bodily fluids?

its not that.. its just fact (if you bother to look it up) that vaccines that are rushed to production tend to be more harmful than helpful.. not all but some thats for sure. my opinion is (and i work for a medical university) that it was lil too rushed and not thourghly tested as it should be. I have had researchers quote the same exact thing. they said they will wait a year or two lol.. so you guys can laugh all you want ill go by who really knows what the heck is up..

polio and the flu are vastly different. no comparisons can be made. is the flu deadly? only to the weak who should get the vaccine anyway. if you are healthy then imo you dont need it. unless you are a [censored] cat.. keep in mind the companies are more concerned about profit and good researchers will point that out as well..

Not comparing the flu with polio other than that prevention from both is by vaccine and not necessarly by a shot. Granted this flu does not at this time seem to be very deadly, making a blanket statement that flu is not is very misleading. The flu in 1918 claimed 50,000,000 lives world wide. Many more than WWI claimed.

I have never taken a flu shot, nor would I take the swine flu vaccine(unless of course I was infected).

So I would not take it unless it was 100% required for my recovery.

People say this about every vaccine, rushed or not. I also have a source I trust-my wife, who's a pediatrician and administers vaccines daily. I can tell you she sees many more patients suffering from illnesses they could have been vaccinated for (but their parents were anti-vaccine) than she does patients suffering from oddball, idiopathic illnesses that could have been triggered by vaccinations.

Hey guy, the shots are only for prevention or to lessen the effects not for curing one after getting the flu. Sorta like wearing glasses do not keep your eyes from needing glasses.

of course back then the flu was more deadly.. kind of a duh statement. they did not have the resources that we have now. if that same flu hit us in the US now you will not see those kind of #'s even if we didnt have the vaccine for it

yes they do say that.. but this one was rushed. thats what concerned the researchers here at my university.. medical researchers.. they are quite skeptic about it. keep in mind fear rules and companies make profit from fear.. keep in mind also i did not say "hey all of you do not get this shot" i could care less if you get it or not. i was just stating my reasons on why i will NOT get this shot in its first forms.. no way... google failed vaccines and google harmfull vaccines. there are many. most were rushed. also keep in mind most researchers do not trust the CDC as well due to many many mistakes and overlooks through the years.

The only thing "rushed" was the effort to get it out. Not the vaccine cultivation process. That's why they are using adjuvent to begin with-they simply could not produce enough vaccine using the standard procedure in the time allotted to provide it to all the people/governments that want/need it.

Feel free not to take the vaccine, though. I certainly agree that it is NOT polio. The sky is not falling and this is not a killer flu anymore than any seasonal flu is a killer flu. As my own state's epidemiologist was quoted as saying, "We've had seven deaths so far. But each year we have hundreds of deaths from seasonal flu." So the main concern for right now is just that it will be a double-whammy flue season.
