Interesting concept..dumb (IMHO), but interesting. But yea..if you die you will accept it.

I would expect to have a certain time period before death would occur....so yes, during that time I would accept the fact of my COMING death. What would you do....cry like a small child?

Cry like a small child? Not hardly. As a cancer survior the only option is to fight like HExx. The chemo I took was poison, closely monitered, and it worked. Accepting the death sentence was not even an option.

Also had polio as a kid, was told I'd never walk again. Again, Cry like a child, not even an option. Hot baths excersize, work, year after year after year. End result, not crippled, even served my country in the U.S.Army.

Give up and accept the end---NOT HARDLY Not yet anyway

Thanks, it's nice to know someone cares about me! But really, there's a big gray area for the minority who wouldn't do everything possible to stay alive under any circumstance. For example, I'm not even opposed to treatment of bacterial infection. I allowed myself to take precautionary antibiotics after my tibia went outside for a few hours of fresh air. The other antibiotics I've had, well, uh, I won't get into that. Appendicitis is not something I've ever thought about, but I think I would likely seek treatment for it, if for no other reason than the pain, simplicity of treatment, and sudden onset. If I then determine that it was a failure of my physical self, I would get sterilized on principle (not that I expect I'll ever want to reproduce anyway).

Disclaimer: I'm not suggesting that everyone should die or be sterilized due to treatable medical conditions. This is simply my own perception of my physical self and its purpose for existence. I've had enough medical assistance in my life to prove that I'm not entirely opposed to medical treatment, and I believe the individual should always have the right to determine what level of medical treatment or assistance is appropriate for himself.

I've seen doctors for advice and natural treatment of physical injuries, and for diagnosis of illness (mono, West Nile virus) while off work or school. But I also had my tibia bolted back together after a severe car accident and I've taken antibiotics for that and for sexually transmitted bacterial infections, so it's really not as black and white as I may have made it sound in my initial post.

The use of tools is unrelated to my philosophy on my physical self. I actually find technology - even medical technology - to be fascinating.

I even enjoyed Lance Armstrong's book, "It's Not About the Bike". He has a very different mindset than I, and I'm sure that makes up the bulk of our life success gap, but I don't disagree with his perspective. It's just not mine.

Dr. Strangelove is on my list of movies I'd like to see. I guess I'll remember this subject when I see it!

JCWIT.....You're taking all this way to seriously. The question was if I will take the vaccination for the 'flavor of the month' flu. I answered with honesty and I get flak from you. Don't get ya...but hey, you've got to be you.....and I've got to be me. One point you're wrong about though and that is about giving up. That was never a part of my answer.

I'll probably be forced to and get a lecture at the same time, maybe not I told the oc. nurse to can it last time. Gotta love working at a hospital.

Some new initiatives" sound familar (Welcome to GULAG !), at least still not so long ago Homo Sovieticus already experienced something similar (though dissidents in the USSR were exampt of a fine, but just placed in "quarantine" far-far away). Well, it seems someone is very eager to give Americans an opportunity to try such experience too. But what may be behind sounds even more fearful irrespective of residence.

While I may not agree with there godless Lifestyle I am not for rounding up people for any reason!!! I can understand that officals are worried about the mess outbreak of a lethal disease but you can just stay at home and sit it out!! Thats why I advise any body to have suppleis like food water and candles in there home. We do anyway because of the possebility off a large Earthquake but with swine flue which has killed about 20 people this summer in Sonoma county alone add bird flue and the hanta (???) virus outbreak in horses and people getting bitten by infected moskeetoes its dangeros out there!!! but you cant hide all the time have to work and go about our Buisness living our lives.

I would definitely get the swine flu vaccine if it was available. In 1918-1919 the misnamed 'Spanish Flu' (it was a kind of swine flu) killed some 600,000 people in the USA and about 50 million (at least) throughout the world. Some cities were almost shut down in the USA.

I have already received my regular flu shot. I asked about the Swine Flu vaccine and I was told it would consist of 2 shots and perhaps would only be available for certain high risk people and at hospitals. Seems to be a waste of time if it will be at hospitals. It may already be too late for somebody on their way to the hospital with the swine flu.

I would not go to the hopsital to get a flue shot thats where all teh Sick people are!!!! A few days ago I read that the swine flue vacine was going to be only one shot and will be offered soon by the Adult Immunization & Travel Clinic in Sam Francisco. I will probably take the kids and wife down their once the vaccine becomes availible in a few weeks

Me : not a chance. My immune system is good because I'm very health / diet conscious, so I don't feel I need to pay any mind to this. The way I see it is, too many people are into meds, doctors, junk food, etc., and their immune function isn't what it could be. Unfortunately they tend to get knocked off their feet whenever a virus comes around.

If I get it, I get it. I don't believe in flu shots. MDs say they don't give *you* the flu, but they always have given me the flu, so I'd rather take my chances on getting it.

[censored] no i wont take that shot.. there have been historic proof of vaccines doing more harm than good esp if rushed to design like the H1n1 vaccine.. no way
