1.) German Castrol Syntec 0w-30 (available in stores and great UOAs here at BITOG)
2.) Mobil 1 0w-30 (my favorite at wally world)
3.) Penzoil Platinum 5w-30 (my first foray into synthetic and also really does clean a dirty engine)

I haven't tried Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple or any others so I can't really say much about them! I'm a newb compared to most of you guys so hoping to get your inputs.

1. I also like GC. it's robust and works great in the applications I use it for.
2. Formula Shell. cases are on sale all the time at Costco and I've been using it for a few years now with no issues and its an awesome price.
3. M1 HM. Cleans quite well, got a case of it really cheap on sale recently after having not used it for a while (too expensive) and I really like it. (when its on sale)

1. AMS SSO 0W-30: Slickest stuff I have ever felt, makes my car start fast and get good MPG in winter, and makes my old Spanish automatic pistol cycle like nothing else
2. M1 5W-30: Great quality, great price when on sale

I have not tried GC or PP. I'm sure they're great, too.

1)Valvoline cause my dad kept nothing but valvoline in the garage.

2) chevron supreme cause its a awsome dino in all rights.

3) castrol if the above 2 are sold out because it also is a great dino, but I prefer the other 2 because they are american owned.

Motul's synthetics for their track record in racing, their OEM certifications, and their one-cut-above performance.

RLI BioSyn for actually being different, and for playing with the big dogs using new tricks and renewable resources.

Mobil 1 for being a reliable and proven top-quality synthetic at a good price.

1) Amsoil anything - everything has worked according to their claims. Replaced Mobil 1 in my friend's G5 (3000 OCIs) and immediately felt a MUCH smoother engine (using ASM) and eventually better fuel economy in spite of it being colder.

2) Motul 8100 X-cess - My friend (RSX Type-S) switched from Mobil 1 which was burning due to vtec engagement

. Motul didn't and has not burned a drop of oil (that you can see...more of an expression really) in spite of frequent trips into vtec :p.

Amsoil and Motul, you just can't go wrong. I haven't tried RP (I find it is "pushed" in the same way as M1 and I initially resisted), Red Line or I don't remember trying any other syn - because I didn't care at the time [scary thought].

SSO Amsoil for extreme cold weather and looong OCI's

Pennzoil Platinum because it is a great oil for a great price.

MC 5000/PYB/Formula Shell for a great all around dino that they almost give away when it is goes on sale or rebate

Haven't used Mobil 1 or Valvoline much in my life so I cannot comment on it.

Red Line exclusively; because:

1) I believe it is the best, and:

2) It upsets some that I change it every 6 months with only 2200 miles on it.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Toyota Tundra has the highest U.S. parts content of any pickup, at 80 percent. The Camry has more U.S. parts than an F150.

The buy American argument only goes so far with me when Ford, GM, and other American companies have many of their cars made in Mexico and other places.

When talking cars, I totally agree. They build more than one model of Toyota within a drive from my home (kitchener, ON, woodstock, ON).

If I were you, I would not get started.....

German castrol 0W30 in the GMC 5.3 for the last 4 years. No issues.

Valvoline maxlife 10W30 in the wife's 2004 Buick Rendezvous with 95,000,nearly all city miles. Its a 3.4 with the orginal intake gaskets. Runs smooth as silk.

And this has what at all to do with oil?

Yes, RL is 100% American. For whatever it may matter, I do not know the nationalities of those who own stock in it, but it is based, manufactured, and controlled here (California).
