SUPERTECH synthetic users, thoughts?

Great oil. Always ran smooth in everything I have run it in. If it weren't sold by Walmart, I would run it all the time.
 
Father In law uses it religiously and changes it every 10k on the 10k. Changes filters (puro classic) every 5k. Like clockwork. His car hasn't blown up yet so it seems to be working for him. I finally got him to send in a used oil analysis so we'll see what that turns up.
 
I have used SuperTech syn oil in my 93 Camry 2.2L for almost 100,000 miles without any issues. Regular OCI's between 5K to 7K with Fram or Wix filters. No complaints and very reasonable priced.

Thanks all. I'm giving it a shot. Not being able to go further than 5k mile oci due to warranty BUT also running a d.i. turbo, I have felt like being caught between a rock-and-a-hard-place. I was considering (and have gone this route on a previous SFS 2.0T) conventional at 3k miles but figure this syn, every 4k would offer better protection.

I have some friends with over 500,000 miles that use super tech oil in their delivery vans running freight 7 days a week, non have lost an engine yet ...........

It's been in my 95 Camry for 30+k miles and will be at least for another 21k! (I have 3 jugs remaining).

Too sketchy for me. If Walmart has anything to do with it they are going for the lowest price, we see reports of different suppliers in different parts of the country.

In Canada i believe someone posted it was recycled oil. The point is this is not a "brand name" so it has nothing to protect, you have no idea if Walmart changes their supplier tomorrow and again the next week for your area.

Ditto all the house brands. For a couple of bucks more i would go with PP, Quaker State Ultimate Durability or Mobil 1 with these you have a much better chance at consistent quality.
 
I have 170,000 on my 06 Toyota 4Runner V6 and about the last 100+K I have run only Supertech synthetic with oil changes between 6-8,000 miles. My truck runs great on it I see me reason to change.

Lowest price? Every car you have ever owned has been composed of parts provided by the lowest bidder. You can't fault a company for wanting to save money. 100,000 trouble free miles seems pretty convincing to me.

This is true, he has no choice in what parts the OEM uses to build the car if he decides on buying their car. He does however have a choice in what oil he wants to put into it though. IMO there are better oils out their than ST, that doesn't make ST a bad oil either.
 
Does the ST say it is good for turbos?

Would you buy Two Buck Chuck to serve at your wedding? Wine is wine, right?

Nice car, turbos are tough on oil, no one ever regretted buying a name brand. Save the ST for the beaters.

Here supertech no longer exists,now its called tune it or something.
The tune it regular price is still more expensive than the Quaker State Ultimate Durability/pp I got on sale and for only a couple of dollars more I got jugs of PU and Castrol edge.
Everyone here knows I advocate for any oil changed at a proper interval once all factors are considered however I also advocate for the almighty dollar in my pockets,and when I can buy name brands on sale for a price that's within a couple of bucks a jug when compared to a house brand I'm buying the name brand all day.
Although I'm sure that API starburst means house oils comply just how close are they to complying.
Are they just making the grade or are they well above the API standard.
If you really want to know how good the oil is check the back to see what other standards it meets,and then compare

What part of "a much better chance at consistent quality" don't you understand?
Brand names have some skin in the game, their reputation and sales. If a load of out of spec ST hit the shelves what effect will that have on Walmart? Very little!

They could scrap the ST line today and it may only cause a slight blip in their business.

If ST is still made by WPP (Warren) and it still honestly meets all the specs for the oil as stated by its label (GM 4718M Corvette spec) ...then what's not to like about it ? Also , the recylcled oil statement is urban myth - Warren is a legit company making quality products .

This was also a missed point in my post. If the Canadian version of Super Tech oil upsets you, then don't buy it.
 
Bottom of the bottles here have always said WPP. I trust PQIA's testing and in those tests, it stacks up. At my Walmart it costs $16/jug or 20% less than Quaker State Ultimate Durability and, the oci are 4k miles. If I can trust an SN/GF-5 conventional for less than 5k mi, I can most certainly trust a Synthetic meeting the same specs that I have seen excellent UOA for.
