I picked this up from Wal-Mart tonight for $2.84 I believe. Dang, these filters are cheap! They're also pretty well made for the money, beats OCD I'd say. The rough line you see on the pleats in one of the pictures was made by me with the saw by accident.

Not really, but ST beats it at half the price, more pleats, metal caps and backing.

The Fram is about a dollar more at WM. I may give the ST a shot on the Matrix for 5k. So 95% efficient at 20 microns?

I think prices increased. The fram from my car was $5. Ultra's used to be around 7.50 and now are almost $9.

No, I've heard it's more like 70% at 20 microns
The orange Fram is 95%.
Even the lowly e-core is 94%

Back in September the Ultra was $9, TG $6 and the OC was $3.87 or some oddball number like that. I'll have to check again since I need an oil change in 200 miles.

Maybe easier on the eyes but not better where it counts.

+1 ... plus the ST uses the "combo valve" which many here don't like.

So is the Formula Shell conventional HD carries a great sleeper oil.

Not all of them do, but yes the combo valve is probably the biggest negative, as well as the filtering efficiency.

That said, for my truck and mom's Saturn, the ST is what I will be using on them.

That 95% effeiciency is for 30 microns. I would believe at 20 it's better than 70%. I am 2000 miles into an oil change with an ST filter and am happy with it so far.
