I put this combo in my transmission tonight. 2001 SAAB 9-5 w/ 149k miles. Anyone run this before? I did a search and only found a couple of threads.

I would stay away from the Lubegard.

It will upset the blend of additives in the fluid and could actually be damaging to the fluid. Use the HM ATF and nothing else.

Argh! Wonderful. Well, the whole reason I didn't arx it is b/c I didn't want to do a quick change. But I guess I'll be doing that anyway....

I personally wouldn't have added the LG, either. However, if you used the LG Red, I wouldn't be in a hurry to change it out. It really shouldn't hurt anything.

I don't understand. I thought LG Red was pretty popular. I'd be the first to say I don't understand the LG lineup. Red, silver black....

I probably still have 2 qts of 10w30 running in my auto trans. HAD to be put in,in an emergency!! this was over a year ago. Saturn

Just how is LubeGard going to damage the ATF!??? I love it when people get on here and talk about a product that they have never used. Here we go again. MR ADDITIVE!!!

And you've had how many transmissions fail while using this product that is so inferior? What a joke.

There are members on this forum who have tested additives in transmissions, but I'm not at liberty to discuss the details of the tests publicly.

Perhaps if you PMed Whitewolf, he can explain it to you.

Molakule also explained it in this thread. He explains how important the proper "balance" of additives is:

There are other posts by him regarding this subject as well.

I disagree with with most of what whitewolf says and believes so Im not very interested in PM'ing him any time soon. Maybe if I need a copy of the SAE paper

The link you sent was talking about motor oils. And yes, I do realize you need to balance additives in any oil.

Lubeguard is a quality product.

I also believe that at one time, Saab endorsed the usage of LG Red in it's transmissions.

It will hurt nothing, and at the very worst, help nothing.
