Supermarket prices

Not any better out here…

The snack and beverage prices have been steadily increasing for a few years. Until a few years ago, you could fine Coke at $6-$7 a case. The store near me has them currently at $15.99.
It's everything. We did our bi-weekly shopping at two stores yesterday and the total bill was more than my first rent payment.

Frito-Lay and Pepsi are ripping off the public. You can buy the same quality snacks at Aldi for less than 1/3 of that price, it's ridiculous. I refuse to shop at traditional grocery stores, their prices are outrageous.

Everything I need comes from Aldi, Trader Joe's and Costco. The quality is just as good or better, and the savings are immense. I also don't need to play games with a shopper card or have their stupid app on my phone to digitally clip a coupon to get the sale price.

Spices - .99 at Aldi, $9.99 at Safeway. Get out of here.
How can Aldi be that much cheaper than Safeway. Isn't Aldi the tiny "European grocery store " that from memory has very little selection? Second cheap spices may not be authentic.

In our area we have several starter brothers markets. They used to have the best prices compared to Vons, Alpha Beta etc.

Seems like staters prices have sky rocketed recently. Is this normal in other places?
Corn chip prices originally went nutty when farmers started growing corn crops for the hungry E85/E10 fuel supply market.

I imagine that impacted the livestock feed market also

Then I did notice yet another jump recently.

May have to start buying those inexpensive corn Tortillas from Mexico and fry 'em yourself,.

I do most of my food shopping at ShopRite with digital coupons and buying only on sale it's not bad go about twice a month. I go to lidil for sale items and basic stuff needed between ShopRite runs. BJ's for paper products n sale items once a month. Meat from local Italian pork store pricey but excellent quality. Wife and daughters like trader Joe's for certain items

Here in Vermont, we have Shaws, which is a division of Albertson. Every week you have to go online to "clip coupons" to get "discounts" on specific grocery items. By "clipping coupons" I typically can reduce my check out total by 15 to 20 percent.

Which means that if you just go into the store without doing prior on line coupon clipping, you will overpay.

I would prefer that they just lower prices for everyone, as is the practice of the New England Market Basket stores. Unfortunately, the closest to me Market Basket stores are in New Hampshire, 40 miles from my home.

I was at grocery shopping at Walmart last night and was thinking the prices were about 10-15% higher than the last time I was there.

yeah then next week its 4 for 10
We shop at 2-3 places and shop the ad
Today boneless pork chops 7.39/lb

Got value pack center cut with bone pork chops $1.99/lb

Some people buy meat and freeze it to save money.

I’m not the type to do that.

Bummer. We do most of our shopping at MB. I think it's only flour and eggs that we get from BJ's but only because the wife buys in bullk--some super large bag of flour and 3 dozen eggs at a time.

I don't need potato chips in my diet. When the price gets to be over $5/bag, they stay on the shelf.
But a couple of weeks ago, Menards had these potato chips for a little over a $1/bag.
They're decent quality for a potato chip.
I only posted this because it just goes to show you how much profit there is for the name brands and when the price gets that high,
the product stays out of my shopping cart.

Time to get out that Cuisinart slicer adapter.
Put that Turkey frier to work more than 2x a year!

Remember when you cooked and made your own stuff from scratch?

I don't eat snacks like that but the other food items have skyrocketed as well. It's quite ridiculous.
