I finally did it. I bought regular SN 5-20 super tech for use in the old F-150 AND a Super Tech oil filter... Cheap as dirt GF-5 oil change. Love it. Hopefully it doesn't blow up, lol (I know it won't). I figure at 180K and 14 years I just need to keep the oil in the operating range and after that, what happens... happens.

My new(ish)grand prix still gets PP though...

Wish me luck!

On another note, I have been using the Super Tech dexron VI and mercon V for roughly 45K on my grand prix and 25-30K on the truck with no issue, Vote yes on those! Cant beat 3.77 a quart

Not easy but it can be done... AAP recently had Castrol Dex VI priced at $3.99 down from $6.99, with which I used a 40% off code to get the per quart price down in the $2.25 neighborhood.

Now if we could routinely get 40% off at Walmart I think we'd all be sittin' in clover!

Supertech is great for the price... wish they'd lower the price on it though to make it more competitive (IE Supertech Full Synthetic would be nice at $15 or lower but we'll never see that.)

I'd love to see regular Supertech conventional oil at $6 for a 5 quart jug but the only way to achieve that price is to pick up resolute oil (citgo oil) from fleet farm.

Those days are long gone, you will never see oil cheaper than it is right now.

I've noticed that the sales on oils at Menards/Fleet Farm and all of the auto parts stores are no where near they were.

Makes me wish I had been collecting oil a lot earlier... could have gotten in on much cheaper stuff.

You should have joined up earlier and found the BITOG oil stash feaver..lol

Im wondering how SN SuperTech fairs in a VOA. I saw the High Mileage oil and that looked good, even had moly. I saw that SN Maxlife has moly now so ST better step it up.

i think super tech uses different suppliers in different areas, as i believe its xom in my area, but when mobil clean is only $11.50/5quart jug, it makes it hard for me to justify buying "i think it is" oil

My 2000 Dodge Neon has 164,000 miles on it and has gotten Supertech synthetic 5w30 since new. It now uses about a quart every 2000 miles and I top it up with supertech 5w30 conventional. OCI's have been 5,000 miles with a purolator classic filter. Supertech is a great oil, car runs great and should make it to 200,000 miles easy. The first 5 years I had the car I lived close to the Canandian border and would see night-time low temps consistently 20-30 below zero for much of January. That's the reason I went with synthetic in the first place. Don't know why people bash this oil, it has a proven track record, at least with my experience.

I'm surprised people praise ecore filters as much as they do (you did mention using a Super Tech filter)... champ barely uses any glue on them.

To be fair a lot of us only praise the non-ecore Super Tech's. Those are a great value filter. For the ecores... forget about um, they suck.

That was the first ecore i cut up, only to find that there was literally only a drizzle of glue on the endcaps, but clearly in some spots. much of it didn't have any glue at all.

I can beat the Mercon V deal. AAP has Castrol Merc V for $3.99 a quart. Using some in my transmission now, bought a bunch of it and used most of it to flush the transmission

Here is some information I got a few days ago from Warren Performance Products which makes some of the Super Tech oils. These are the High Mileage versions in 10w30 and 10W-40.They seem to be good oils.
