Super Tech (Wal-MArt) synthetic oil?

What is it, $12/5q? $2.40/q is pretty cheap. I used the High Mileage 10w30 oil and it was nice. The 10w30 claims A3, while the 5w30 claims A1. If it claimed A5, I'd be much more interested, as A5 is rare and seems ideal for extended in the Hondas.

Thinner 5w30 and thicker 10w30 in the same product line is something I've long thought was a good idea.

As we all understand that a GF-4 oil must be 15% or less Noack, just what is an example of "high Noack" and what is an example of what you would consider "acceptable Noack"?

Or to put it a different way, I doubt if you would notice significant consumption based solely on 2 Noack points!

Triple - In no way, would anyone familar with the Noack rating, describe 13% Noack as "unfavorably high".

The 13% range is ballpark for many GF-4 5w30's. Try Pennzoil, Valvoline Durablend and Havoline DS.

If an engine has consumption problems, I would look at sticky rings or the PVC system before trying to blame it on the Noack of a GF-4 oil!

You are talking apples conventional..... I'm talking oranges (synthetic).

I am no longer interested in any synthetic with a Noack that's 13.2

Amsoil ASL 5w30 is the lowest at 8.1. The XL Group III is only 10.9.
