Having a hard time removing the oil filter from my Camry with 2AZ-FE engine. It’s on so tight that when I use an oil filter strap wrench, the filter crushes.

I’ve seen some people stick a screw driver through the filter, however it’s very tight so there isn’t enough room to do this and rotate with a screwdriver through it.

Any suggestions?

To me it looks like it's twisted clockwise which would be tightening it? I think the threads might be damaged if it is overtightened by that much so even if you take the filter off the filter housing threads may need to be replaced anyway.
dead giveaway here. Your going the wrong direction.
As above looks like it was tightened up more rather than loosend
I know which direction is loosen and which is tighten. It just looks the wrong way due to the wrench applying pressure in a specific manner

I don't know what everyone else sees but i see it being turned to the left, which is correct for loosening.
@antik - spray some lubricant on the mating surface, wait a while, wipe the filter clean, then try a filter wrench (see below). Or one like @D60 shows above.

That's what I felt, too. Interesting how people's eyes interpret things differently.

Looks like a doozy. Been a couple 'similar looking' ones posted on the oil filter subforum. One guy linked* ended up using a pipe wrench on the baseplate. The other made a homemade version of the 'ultimate solution' Bogert tool (posted above), used on a boat engine. If you end up crushing the can to the point where you still can't turn it using one of the simpler options mentioned, may have to resort to one of the first two. Good luck!
