I have looked at previous posts and have missed a description of this stuff in the bright pink bottle. Is it just a big dose of Zinc? Can anyone tell me what the real skinny is on this stuff and would you touch it? Thanks for your help.

About 4800 ppm zinc, phosphorus and calcium. About 28 cSt. Great stuff if you want to boost zddp in your oil. There is VOA info on this site. I have a bottle of it in my F150 4.9L six on top of some 10w40 Maxlife.

Thanks to all for the help.I assume it does not contain seal swelling agents. The reason for my inquiry is because I was in a Big Lots that had tons of the stuff and I had heard it mentioned on BITOG. Could not remember if it was a good product or a snake oil.

Its good if you want to really boost all those mentioned additives. I ran it for an OCI in my car, did no harm...didnt notice a benefit either to be honest.

Only oil additive I got an effect from was LC20.

the additives in these cheap products might have a hefty amts of zinc and phos etc. but its the quality thats important and the same goes for the voa on oils on here keep in mind all that is an elemental test of whats in a product it doesn't say anything about the quality of additives..most of the cheaper oils and additives are old school tech. that accounts for the cheap price...that goes for vsot, slob, xr-1,stp,lubecontrol,fuel power,..if you want a oil additive that has everything then use the bg's moa they keep their additives up to date as the lubricants changes...sfr is also new school additives...you get what one pays for.. its like an x-ray it only shows what on the outside bones and none of the inside.. i know as usual this comment will #@$%! off alot of people on here..

Yes it's cheap (especially at Big Lots price) but was around 8 to 12 $ a bottle retail. It is cheaply made in the sense of zddp and calcium in a base oil, but it's not bad cheap. It will do the job if the job you want is higher zddp levels. It is nothing fancy like Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment, which has all kinds of goodies. I have not heard that it has any seal swellers. I would more suspect that of the CD2 75000 mile additive (also at Big Lots), which has about 4000 ppm zinc etc.

Exactly, it wasn't originally priced as a cheap additive at $10-12 a bottle. I know that's no guarantee of quality but I think it's banishment to BigLots had more to do with the pink bottle with a riced-out Civic Del Sol on it more than anything else.

If you are LOOKING for a seal-swelling agent, SLOB's sister product CD-2 75k plus (also at BigLots) does, I believe contain it.

I did use a bottle of SLOB every oil change in hopes of sustaining my oil life in my raging oil monster saab. But to be quite honest, since I saw such a great effect with a maintenance dose of auto-rx, I've been subbing that in instead. If I didn't already have so many deposits (thanks previous owner) I'd probably still be dosing up with SLOB. But I want that crud out and arx seems to be the only thing I've found capable.

No seal swellers for me. If a seal leaks it gets replaced around here.

I'm guessing that if it was originally 8-12 bucks a bottle Big Lots price of 1.99 ain't too bad?? I have never used it but remember hearing about here. I never actually saw any until I walked in a BLs the other day. That store had probably 50 or more bottles. Without a doubt the most unusual color bottle I have ever seen for an oil product. Maybe they should have marketed it at those places where women get their toenails all painted up.

Right next to the VSOT on store shelves is a seal-swelling additive. It's Valvoline Stop-Leak. Worked well in my daughter's Shadow. Cut her one quart consumption issue 60-70%.

That pink bottle SLOB is good stuff. A half-bottle is all that's needed for maintainance in most sumps. Otherwise, use the entire bottle.
