It was mentioned but it's the perfect assembly lube.
I put it in my Mitsu truck & the lifters sterted to tick, dang thick stuff.
I used to like the stickers as a kid though..

used it in my 65 GTO years ago. Was 18 at the time(1972) and when I put the heads back together after replacing a broke piston(ring landing--scorded cyl-poorman's rebuild) I had a hard time keeping the little rubber o-rings in place on the valve stems when I was putting the valve keepers in place so I throw them away-didn't care if they were needed(Pontiac's also weren't the best on valve guides). Talk about use oil--drove from here(north of Seattle) to San Deigo and back(3000++ miles) and used well over a case of oil(this was when cases were 24-not 12qts), Dad had a gas station and I put a case in the trunk before I left and had to buy more before I got home. Almost every 100miles it would start puffing blue so I would run it up to 70/80++mph which would clear it for awhile. After doing this afew times it would start blowing blue nonstop so I would than put in a can of STP which would clear it for another 100 or so miles before more blue smoke!! The car was totally stock(389)with 4.33gears and a turbo400 I had put in after breaking the 4speed(FANTASTIC out of the hole drag racing but it would ran out of breath FAST-no top end). It did just a bit of rpm "whinning" crusing at 55/60mph which is what I did all the way down and back in the slow lane back in those days when everyone else doing 70++(pre-gas shortage times -$0.369 supreme gas days!!!). The motor was tired but STP helped it live on until I got home and doped it up with another extra can or two and sold it to a car wholesaler for $500., which I used as the down payment on my 70 455 GTO(which I ended up owning twice for over 9 years total).

In the late sixties, slot car racers used it as the preferred "stickum" for foam tires. In that application it worked about like contact cement - if you put too much on, the car would wheelstand instead of roll, and periodically the tracks had to be de-gunked because the stickyness was slowing the cars down.
