Tell you guys what-I have a PH8A OCOD that is AT LEAST 20 years old, and has been stored in my non-heated, 100+ year old garage disaster for the 15 years I've lived here-TO THE FILTER CUTTER!!

My two cents: maybe if you dont stockpile too many filters, they wouldnt have a chance to go bad. There will always be good filters to buy.

Why don't we ask what's different about the VAG filter (ie get some more facts), rather than argue about whose right or wrong re expiry dates?
It's plausible that filter material subject to humidity and temperature fluctations could become compromised. Rubber seals, adbv etc could become less pliable. Metal could rust.
So does the VAG filter have synthetic media? Are rubber parts made out of silicone?
Arguing logicaly with facts and even supositions that can be challenged is helpful. Arguing solely about validity of sources of information and who you trust is not a precise enough way to come to any conclusions.

True, however the prices continue to rise. I have about six years of filters in stock, all bought at excellent prices even for today.

True, but thats inflation. you cant stockpile everything.
Since I change oil filter only once a year in all my cars, I have enough oil filters for about 7-8 years. I only make sure the thread end of spin on filters are down in its boxes.
