Now now, read the latest comments on the “Increasing Hostility on Bitog” especially by the Townies. LOL. The OP expressed an opinion on longer OCI’s.
No need to bash. :)
Just my personal opinion, but I see a major difference between what is called "bashing" of a comment and a "technical, critical analysis" of a comment. . :)

And I'm surprised with all the bashing. Everyone is basically bringing up the exceptions but in principle it's a valid point.

I have always been amazed at people changing the oil at 3k or 5k. Had a 1995 Toyota Camry v6 ran Mobil 1 synthetic 10K oil changes at 200k my front valve cover started to leak when I took the cover off the inside looked brand new. Car never burned a drop of oil. Now I run Mobil 1 in my 2015 F150 and using Mobil ! EP 20K have 80,000 so far and no problems. Do you know how often 20 million dollar jet engines get the oil changed?
Do you have an EcoBoost engine ?

The interval, yes but the comparison to jet engines is not. As has been pointed out here multiple times by people a lot more knowledgeable than me, there is no correlation that's meaningful between jet engine and PCMO.

I’d never go over 5K I never go over 3K with conventional no matter what the owners manual or manufacturer says. I don’t know of many people that do. When I worked up at the dealership they told me I was crazy for changing synthetic at 5000 but everyone does what works for them and that’s totally fine.
I use Golden State non-detergent HD40 and I change it every 3000 feet.

We can all scrutinize someone else for wasting money but I’m not sure the point.
One can call wasting money over what the OP chooses to use for a motor oil versus Supertech.
Also in such a large country vehicles are driven in a wide range of different climates as well as different driving conditions.

There is no one-size-fits-all and just because one person has success with one specific vehicle and specific engine in a specific area of the country/climate as well as specific driving conditions and driving habits doesnt mean another vehicle will have the same success.

For me a good starting point is following the manufacturers recommendations and that is not wasting money.

I've heard of folks putting used vehicle oil into their lawn equipment, but never their own cars. Hope none of it has coolant or transmission fluid in it.
I've used oil that I've drained out of my better cars as topping off oil in a couple high mileage oil burners I've had in the past. Last car I did that on I probably did it for at least the last 100K miles I drove it. It just kept on running, never started knocking and was still running when I parked it because of other issues. I also keep a close eye on my oil level and seldom let it get more than 1/2 qt. low. I had a car in the '90's that I drove to work on construction sites, I quit changing oil in because I was always topping it off. When I sold it it had been 31K miles since it's last oil change and consumption didn't seem to have got any worse. The person who bought it I think drove it about 2 years after buying it from me and only quit driving it then because they passed emissions testing in that area and it wouldn't pass because the catalytic converter had been removed years before.

Different strokes for different folks. What makes you comfortable isn’t for everyone. You could be a financial advisor on the side for extra income. 😂 😆
