In the Diesel world K&N is a BIG
. I have replaced countless turbos due to K&Ns coming apart.
As for aftermarket performance systems AFE's construction is superior, and they have drop in filters aswell.

To the OP use I still love my K&N, but good job on trying to make friends....lolI also love how who ever made those pretty graphs doesn't keep colors the same for certain products.

I'm using google chrome and it can't open it either, had to switch to IE to open it. Ah well. Anyway, as far as the article goes, Purolator actually looks fairly bad, which is surprising to me.

I have never seen K@N on any heavy duty equipment. Which tells me that they are no good for expensive engines,,, simple no preconcieved ideas that get in the way of facts . If K@N were any good they would be in use as the owners of the expensive equipment would do anything to milk more life out of the engines.
This link should work better for you guys duramax filter test . It's just the old spicer filter test done back when amsoil still had 2 stage foam filters.
These tests were done in 2004 so are outdated. Amsoil has changed to the EA filters now and others probably have changed technology also. K&N is the same so their results would not change today. Any filter you can see thru that uses oil can't be that good.

The OEM filter was DM 40 and a K&N was DM 70,of course i bought the K%N.
At about 110K i had to remove the carbs to do some other work and the bores and slides were spotless,no dirt,no build-up,nothing at all.I sold it with 160K KM (100K mi) running like a Swiss watch.Compression was 180 on all 4 OEM spec was 182+- 29lbs so i cant say the motor wore very much at all.
That being said i don't think i would put one on any engine that the MAF sensor could get contaminated with the oil used on them.

If I didn't have any experience with K&N and read this site, I'd never use them. But my experiences have been completely good ones for the past 15 years. I took the filter off my intake on my truck to check the MAF and intake pipe a few weeks ago. It's clean as a whistle. I put the 77 series on it 2 years ago and I've oiled it once since then.
My girlfriend's grandfather had to swap the turbo on his 01' Duramax at 55,000 miles due to the "K&N Collapse".
I plan on switching to an AEM dryflow. I'm tired of the K&N oil coating my MAF
