Saw this today in Roswell NM. No one would explain why the state ordered the halt of premium gas. Octane?, Additive levels?, or maybe water contamination as rain & flooding were an issue in the area lately.
Not the same, but dad a similar thing happen to me trying to buy eggs at Aldi’s a few weeks back. Got to the register and the eggs wouldn’t ring up. Cashier said there was a “Stop Sale”. Never found out why. One would think that if there was a health and safety issue with a food product, that someone would put up a sign, or cover the eggs, or otherwise make them inaccessible.
I'm going to guess that someone accidentally or intentionally put regular in the premium tank, and this was not detected for a while. If it was water cars would be dying as they left the station, so they would immediately voluntarily stop sales without the state being involved.
