That makes two of us.

The crud that came out in the 5w20 run was pretty spectacular though. I've never had that junk in any of the filters on my other vehicles. This truck has an unknown maintenance history prior to 150,000Km, which is when we bought it. So I don't know how well, or poorly it was looked after in that regard.

These is no spring loaded ADBV - that is the canister assembly spring. The nitrile (or Silicone) diaphram is the adbv. A Spring loaded valve would be the bypass.

Well, that information is a tad late now that I have a case of the Fl-820S filters, LOL. Which end is the bypass on the Bosch?

I wouldn't say the ADBV failed. With the filter disconnected, it'll backflow out, since it's a check valve.

It was coming out around the ADBV. I thought I made that clear

That's why the blue bucket is full of oil and there was none in the filter.

Just to update:

No noise on her first cold start of the day today. Quiet as a mouse.

Noise has now been gone since the filter swap. Looks like it fixed it.

I have heard my parents do it a couple times. I dont remember at this point which filter it had on it. Right now it has 5W-30 M1 EP and the mobil 1 filter and it is quiet.
