Found this stuff in Walmart frozen isle. LOVE most seafood, not much fresh in Arkansas though. Any way, seems to be tiny lobster tail compressed and frozen into forms similar to old-time ice trays. Bought a pack (don't remember but though it reasonable price at the time). Wife mentioned it this evening, so we decided to give it a try.

Package instructions insist on cooking while still frozen. Totally without recipe I heated stick of butter with generous helping of Wok oil (cottonseed oil with black pepper, coriander, garlic [yes Mori I know that just sickened you],caspicum, and gensing root). Added small can of mushrooms, brought to hard simmer and began placing lobster chunks in. After letting heat come back up and covering to steam, cooked for approx 10 minutes then laid raw sliced onion rings in skillet. Covered and cooked high another 5-6 minutes. Similar to scampi, this stuff is DELICIOUS!!!

Green beans for side.

oops, wrong beastie.

As to the "pressed" part, I LOVE scallops, including the orange bit...but my inlaws used to buy frozen ones processed in Japan. They were all round (1.5", 3/4" thick, perfectly shaped. They trimmed off everything that wasn't white meat, and quite a bit of the white.

That beastie is called a "Languste" in German, and I think Americans call it a "spiny lobster." I wouldn't know for sure, because I don't regard arachnids as food.

Seafood the only protein worth eating. Meat, who needs it? Oh and Langoustines eg. Scottish ones are as good as seafood gets. But then I'm forgeting Scottish wild salmon. Drooling or what

Holy smokes did you see that thing on Wiki, "the squat lobster".... pretty scary... I'll stick with Alaskan Snow Crab legs... yummy...

By the way their is a company that ships fresh lobster to your door...

Canned mushrooms? Enough said....

Pablo,

Sure you've given reason for this position before, but I either missed it or have forgotten. What's wrong with them? Also, you might give consideration to subing fresh should you ever attempt "squat Lobster". From packaging they come from Pacific near South America.

"I refuse to eat spiders."

Mori,

Didya ever LOOK at a fish?? Still eating them? Not a Cajun, and never been through military survival training, but mostly will eat anything that doesn't bite me first.

Almost get the impression you two are both trying to pick a fight

I don't eat fish if it's a bottom feeder either. I don't mind eating ugly fish.

Why should I have to like crustaceans for food? It's just nothing I want to eat. Besides them belonging to the arachnids, they are also bottom feeders, scavengers. They eat dead, rotting stuff. 'Nuff said, I'll pass.

I don't even like the smell of shrimp and lobster. To me it reeks like a sweaty locker room.

I'm sure I eat things others find disgusting. I have no issue eating ripe Limburger cheese.

As for the canned mushrooms, I assume you mean those beige things, which are similar to crimini. I don't touch those beige ones (they come mostly from China) and I'm not crazy about crimini. The crimini is by the way the commercially grown and cultivated of the much superior field mushroom (Agaricus bisporus/"champignon"), which are not bad. I really do like boletes (Boletus edulis) and , chanterellle, and a handful of other mushrooms.

My favorite mushroom

I like a few fungi. Fungi grow on dead and rotting things. Fungi and seafood is just not a good combo by my taste buds. Canned fungi....well it's just gross. The taste is weird and the texture......ewe mommy.

I am not picking a fight.

I eat pretty much anything from the sea, including uni. Lobster? Bring it on daddy!!!

I love lobster, crab, and shrimp. Bottom feeders are okay by me; cod are groundfish, and I love them!!! Love to eat them, that is.
Uni? No. No sexual organs of urchins, or anything else other than women, thank you.
Mushrooms? No. Never eat something a toad sits on.

I eat opihi...don't know if it's male or female but it's called a Limpet. Oh by the way, only place on earth where you can find the real stuff...dudes use scuba gears with a scraper to get the best stuff. Best ocean water..the Big Island.

That's how I feel about sausage. Ever seen sausage made?
Actually there are quite a few meats that disgust me. Animal muscle tissue isn't all that appealing if you think about it. Well, for me anyway.
I'm even getting to the point where if I had to give up meat all together, I wouldn't miss it much.
But I can't live without seafood, including crustaceans.
Yum!
