You tell your wife it is up to HER to deal with this and figure out what she is going to do. Simply tell her I warned you to slow down and you ignored me and argued with me about it. Now deal with the mess you created.
May not seem like a popular approach for a married couple but she did it and she should have to deal with it not you. Maybe having to do so, plus the financial hit taken, will smarten her up and get her to slow down? Let her figure it all out.
If you are both on the insurance policy you are screwed by association.
