I think you may be right, Gene.

Absolutely correct. Nothing will deaden the injector slap in these motors.

I was tempted, too, until I saw the VOA on their 10w-30 here. That zinc level is a little high for comfort. I'd love to see another test on it, though, or other HPS grades.

Garak, here is a UOA of RP 5w30 HPS. The ZDDP is nearly half as much than the 10w30 flavor.

Thats whats going in my car next. And yes I am one of the many on Amazon with our butt dino experience. The insane part is that on Amazon the butt dino reviews are across the board with all their viscosities. Take a look at the reviews on their API licensed 5w20 viscosity. I believe it has 124 reviews with a 5 star rating.

No problem at all deven, lol.
I too was a big RP fan back when I drove an EVO VIII.

Thanks for that. That makes me wonder about the other VOA, now, or if they're being strange and formulating differently for different grades. Now, these are the kinds of things that give BITOGers headaches.

I was thinking the same. I have talked to tech services at RP and they have told me most RP HPS flavors have Zinc and Phosporus in the 1100 to 1200 range.

I know..All their grades even the api sn stuff has 5 star ratings across all skus and all are verified purchases, some reviews are from people who know about oils and many claim to hv used other synthetics and have settled on rp. Hate rp all you want but they have a huge fan following their fb page has more likes than pennzoil or mobil 1, if it was so bad we would have had several redflags on amazon reviews consumer reports etc. It is pricy no doubt but it does make engines run smoother whatever you make of that.

See, these are the types of things that give us headaches, as I said. I'd like to know the answer, but I really don't have an application in which I'm dying to use the product, so I can't justify purchasing it and running a VOA.

That 1700 ppm was a bit frightening, really, venturing into racing oil territory. I thought that's quite the leap, from ILSAC levels in one product line all the way to racing levels in their street performance oils.

Also, I'm now curious as to what their high mileage oils would look like in a VOA, perhaps closer to the old SL stuff? They also have a new HDEO line, for those who care to look, but there isn't much data out there on it yet.
