But only because there was cloud coverage which acted like ND filter!

LOL! Same here.

I went to Oconee State Park in SC to see it with family. My dad is really into astronomy, so he had been planning it out for a while and rented cabins, had legit ISO certified glasses, etc well in advance. I took a long drive up there going through Nantahala and Chattahoochee National Forests. We had a nice view of the eclipse over a lake. There were some clouds, but we had a big clearing during totality and it was a beautiful thing to see. The various effects were really cool too...the horizon off in the distance, ellipses on the ground, the eerie changes in light, etc. It was just a really cool thing to see.

We had about 70% occlusion here in Phx. A friend of mine has a 10.5 inch telescope at home. He brought his solar lens filter to work so we could all look through it. It was amazing! I was surprised that the actual disk of the sun was only maybe 1/2 inch in diameter. Just a little orange sliver. I could see flares and shadows on it.

Lots of people from neighboring offices came outside and looked through his filter, went back and brought out their co-workers to see. It turned into a little party in the parking lot.
