My neighbor just called me and will sell me his Snapper Pro Mid Mount Zero Turn Hydro with 18 HP Kawasaki and mulch kit that was purchased for $5244 new in 2008. He has it serviced every year by the Snapper Dealer. 1017 hours. All residential usage. He had back surgery and can't mow anymore. It looks like it's only 3-4 years old. He told me he would sell it to me for $1700. Is this a steal?

How can I find out what it is worth?

Maybe its just me , but thats a lot of hours for a homeowner mower 3-4 years old. I have a mid 2013 toro and i have 100hrs on mine. Does he have a lot of yard or just mow really slow?
Really 1000+ hours?

He’s 83 and he mows 2 lots. He bought them to keep someone from building beside him. He was just guessing on the hours. It shows 71 ( I switched the digits). The hour meter had 3 lll’s and then 71. He said he guessed it had 1000+ hours. He also uses a Kubota to mow as well.

He’s picky as can be. He’s buying a $15k Kubota tomorrow at 6 am.

I don't know about many, but i did! I saw the statement looks 3-4 years old, and missed the 2008 purchase date.

Can't comment on the rig other than the engine, which I think is a good one.
The Kawasaki engine is by far the most reliable part of my John Deere 345.

Time is ticking. I always thought Snappers were good and then went bad. It has that non-forged deck. I need some support as my wife and I discuss it

If it has a thick steel deck and not a stamped one, I would grab it. Sounds like he took good care of it. I traded a 10 yr. old Toro Zmaster last summer. It had several hundred hrs. and all the service records with syn oils and the dealer gave me top dollar for it and sold it right away. He could see that it was in good shape. They hold their value if they are not thrashed. If it's a "stamped deck" forget it.

It’s the thick steel deck with oem mulch kit and blades. The deck looks like a mid 80’s Simplicity.

It still feels like the year is 2011 sometimes...

The hour meters only run with the blades engaged on the snapper and Ferris mowers, just fyi. Maybe back in 2008 they weren't idiots and put a real hour meter on wired to the ignition switch and not the pto.

I went to the servicing dealer and he said his meter broke years ago. He said the owner didn't want to pay to have it fixed because he always brought it in for service in October (only used Kawasaki 10w30 oil and Kawasaki filters so that's a plus)and it was gonna be his for the remainder of his lifetime. He didn't plan on back surgery Dealer said it probably had 200 hours and no more than 300. Owner uses 2 mowers and only used the ZeroTurn on the flat part of his lot. Many weeks in the last few years he had lawn service mow because of his back problems.

I'm gonna replace the meter if I can find the right part. Mower ID tag says made by Simplicity. Looks like it's about $40.
