I would be curious what the break in directions are from S&W. DPMS wanted me to clean the barrel every five rounds for the 1st 100. I used a bore snake to do that and now, it’s a very accurate (1 MOA with me shooting, and I’m no expert on precision shooting).
I have found that my DPMS (again, similar, not the same) is picky about lube. It doesn’t like to be run dry. It doesn’t like thin oils, they don’t hold up, and will give trouble at the 50-75 round mark.
It likes the AMSOIL (Thanks, Pablo) and will run all day if lubed generously with that.
It even likes TW-25B (thin synthetic gun grease).
I’ll be curious to read your range report.
There is no mention of any break-in procedure in the manual.
I'll be using synthetic motor oil for lube. Whatever's left over from my oil changes, so, PPPP or M1.
