Small & Simple - Kia Picanto

It's not about exceeding. It's about what is enough, and the other benefits that come with having a smaller, lighter car.
I only go by what you wrote and you made it sound like small cars can be as comfortable as the larger ones. That’s the reason I responded.

Now, I totally get that small vehicles can be more comfortable than they appear to be and some large ones can be less comfortable than what they appear. But generally speaking size does have an impact on comfort, that is why people gravitate towards bigger vehicles. Especially as they get older and can afford it.

Don't get me wrong. I loved my 5 series and I wouldn't be surprised if I get another in a few more years.

It's just the shock that actually, after a week and a half in a Picanto, I've come to the realisation that if I absolutely had to, I could quite easily get by with one. And when you think about it, nearly everyone drives too much car, and as guilty of it as I am, it's quite wasteful.

This is one of those little cars that people think everyone else should be driving.
Yeah, in NA it makes no sense to have these cheap cars so short and small, as many people never parallel park or drive in tight pre-car designed cities or streets.
IMO something like my Focus wagon stretched a couple inches for rear legroom, would be a nice "do it all/most of it" family car for people on a budget, get near 40mpg with a KISS NA drivetrain good for 300k+ with a set of plugs as maintenance...
Or if you do alot of 80mph interstate cruising, scale it up a bit to a midsize wagon and trade some mileage for a bit more insulation and smoothness.

I totally get your point now👍
Small cars have gotten a lot better too than what was available in the past and I think a lot of them have narrowed the gap.
I recently bought a Toyota C-HR and it is surprisingly comfortable and quiet on the freeway. Definitely a lot better than my old Mazda 3 or Ford Focus.

So, Picanto is officially a synonym for "Penalty Box."
It presents in photos as punishing. Must be one of those "You think you hate it now, just wait until you drive it" kind of vehicles.
Translation, "spicy, hot"

Translation, "spicy, hot"

If one spent a hot day crammed in the back seat in one of those things w/o A/C (which this one apparently does not have,) I could see where that translation might be applicable.
The "spicy, hot" would radiate, creating a malodorous air.

Renault an Peugeot did this thing back in the 90s: you could get a Clio Baccarat or 205 Gentry, which where luxury versions of the regular cars. In a time before every car came with leather-like upholstery etc... it was like a very small Renault 25 or Peugeot 505
