I don't drive alot thruout my workweek (5 1/2 days), 4 to 15 city miles a day, its 2 miles one way to work. Therefore, I don't get my car worked up enough to burn off contaminates and moisture outta my oil. At the cost of gas now at $2.059gal, I'm unwilling to do any extra hiway driving just to do it. Can I accomplish the same task by driving in a lower gear? For example, at 35mph, ~rpms are D-2000, 3rd-2500, and 2nd-3200. If so, how far should I drive and how often?

I would change the oil more often. Just for fun have you had the oil anaylized to see how it looks. this would be a good use of oil analysis.
