Should McDonald's go back to this menu?

Semi off topic, in the early 1970s I had a friend that managed the Taco Bell in San Bruno calif and back the they would cook dried beans for the refried beans, grate the three cheese blend from real cheese , cook real hamburger meat and fry up the Taco shells. Fairly high quality food. Today all the food is pre cooked and in plastic bags from a supplier so it is ultra processed [food]

All that's missing is the McRib

Your wish has been granted...for the next few weeks, anyway.

One just opened here last weekend. At one point the line was a 2 hour wait. For chicken fingers...

We'll wait a month or three.
they are fairly fresh to my location as well.. maybe 5 years? ago.. there is 5 or 6 within 40min now.

I eat at the canton location once a month or so.. I drive past quite a few times per month.
McAlisters isnt bad either.. about once a month there too.

AApparently A&W did away with the draught root beer many years ago ( at least in Colorado). Most are now kfc combo restaurants.

I’ve seen them. Even at a combo KFC. I guess those still exist from the days that Yum Brands still owned A&W. And that was really convoluted when they switched to Pepsi products but still licensed the A&W brand (including root beer) from 7Up/Dr Pepper.

Where I’ve seen that, one was where they dispensed it out of the same modern dispenser. But one had a separate traditional handle like this:

There are still a few freestanding locations like this one on San Rafael, California.

The beans are dried and they mix in hot water on site. Obviously, shipping dried food is a lot lighter and it really doesn't have an expiration date. The meat is cryovaced in bags and reheated in boiling water. Both of these are done for product consistency and efficiency of preparation. KFC does this similarly with it's Mac&Cheese and mashed potatoes.

McD's has been on fire with it's app lately. Months of 40% off and QPC, the $1 10 piece nuggets, and the $.50 double cheese. BK wasn't outdone this week with free food every day.

I'm going to counter the bulk of McDonald's haters on this thread.

American taste have changed dramatically over the last decade. Burgers are now seen as inherently unhealthy and you can forget about supersizing anything anymore.

My wife and I typically get a fast food snack about once or twice a week. We only get whatever is free or very inexpensive. We call it a two buck chuck since we rarely have to spend more than that.

It makes absolutely no sense to have a meal at any of these places. There's too much poison to consume. However, if you have a burger or a taco and top it off with a helping of healthy food (fruits and vegetables) you're usually A-OK.

I think burgers are still pretty popular, but a lot of it is differentiation between fast food and more a restaurant that prepares burgers fresh. Doesn't have to be a fancy restaurant either, but more an attention to the quality of ingredients. George Motz's Hamburger America in Manhattan might have the most buzz now. They only have three burger options at a time, incluing an Oklahoma style fried onion burger, a smashburger, and another style for a month selected by Motz at any given time. Apparently for now it's not a burger but a chili dog.
