Should McDonald's go back to this menu?

Looking at this menu - could McDonald's really improve the quality of its food, and service by going back to this menu? The prices would of course not be reflective of this menu, but I can't help but wonder if this would make someone like me want to return to McDonald's for something more than black coffee.

I would still not eat there. Maybe back in the day.

Yes their fries are the best, but flies do not eat them, so there is that.
In 2002 I was about to eat a egg McMuffin. Received a call to get to a airport immediately, where I boarded a plane. Six months later, I returned and went to my Olds Bravado, which was sitting in a very hot and humid climate. Opening the front door I saw the egg McMuffin sitting there. Took a peak, the egg McMuffin looked exactly the same way it did the morning I ordered it, six months ago. No mold, no rotting, no degrading in its appearance. Kind of scary.

If McDonald's returned to the above menu, only one protein to stock and cook. One bun to stock and cook. One soft drink cup size. Maybe they could increase their quality to earn your business back.

Four cents for cheese?!
I want to speak to the manager!

There's talk of going back to beef tallow frying oil.
That would be a good start.
I suspect the CEO of McDonald's would love to eliminate any cooking at any McDonald's restaurant. I am sure he dreams of the Starbucks and Dunkin model of just microwaving food that was pre cooked in some massive commissary, maybe thousands of miles away.

I actually worked at McDonals's when they introduced the 1/4 pounder (frozen) with real onions. We had sales contests and talked customers into buying it and I would win all the time. We only ran the contest for a few days. I actually really liked working there and I think they had good work ethics they taught the employee's. If you were out of hand they would fire you. Much different than today's world. I never like the orange drink.

I thought it was unusual the sign had root beer at the top, and coca cola at the bottom.

Glad to hear you had a good experience working at McDonald's. Good life lessons for a young man.

I never worked fast food but a high school friend of mine worked at the local McDonalds for years, and when he turned 18 they made him a manager of some type - he was still in High School. He said more or less the same thing - good place to work, at least back then.

My stomach was a little upset a few weeks ago and I was in a hurry, so I used the local McDonalds drive-through for a chocolate-milkshake. That was a mistake I won't make again. Really low quality chocolate. The entire shake was very low quality. I have not been visiting McDonalds much in the last couple years, but that milkshake was the death nail of me ever going there again.

At least the DQ in Bethel Park still has good quality shakes.

McD never again. I'm done with them. Some pencle pusher cut the quality another notch back in an attempt to maxamize profit again and they went too far this time.

I suspect your experience is not uncommon. Not sure McDonald's currently has any interest in changing anything except increasing its earnings per share. Consumers are showing on a macro basis that McDonald's quality and service does not mean as much as convenience and location, which McDonald's is the king of.

Despite the apparently simplicity of In-n-Out's menu boards (which are fabricated in house), there is complexity hidden in the secret menu items, and unwritten customization options they offer.

Their success comes from much more than a seemingly simple menu, including the people they hire, who are well-trained (and treated), and good at running the stores (especially relative to other fast food joints).

(But, remember, it's still fast food.)

the scary part is I remember prices close to the ones posted, naaa I'm not getting old
