Should I take a shift work job?

Wow. I'm kind of floored at the whining and pickiness? I take it most don't have to worry about providing for anyone?

I've done shift-work for the past 22yrs. The first 5yrs were second shifts, 3-11pm, the rest have been rotating 12hr shifts, similar to what Shannow described above. Any 12hr shift I worked means you work ~15 shifts a month, the rest of the time you're off, unless there's OT. I rarely work a month w/out OT. We work alternating 36 and 48hr weeks, anything over 40 is OT.

It's nice to have days off during the week as opposed to weekends only. As far as work goes, it's nice running the whole place with just you and your shiftmate on nights, weekends and holidays. Normal business hours is a different animal. My work is a 24/7/365 process.
