Should gas stations be mandated to have chargers as well?

They have plenty of time. Unlike the inconsiderate dweebs that leave their vehicles at the pump and go into the convenience store.
I'm one of those inconsiderate jerks.

But at least I have the decency to leave my credit card in there, so they get free gas. :ROFLMAO:

If there is profit to be had, the station owners will do it. Stations along an interstate or through Hwy for example, could benefit more than the local station right in town. I assume most EV owners charge at home? So the local guy won't get the business, but the station where road trippers are driving might.

Long story short, let the free market decide. Government mandates need not be involved.

I just get what I want and sit in my car. I prefer to stick to myself when traveling. It’s when I get caught up with stuff on my phone.

Around here I have seen charging stations at the big movie theater and the Meijer grocery store.

Free gas is good! I'm so used to being in NJ that I forget that gas stations are different in the other 49 states.

Only if you support the federal government ruling your life.
Plenty of those people in California.

I don't think a gas station should be forced to put up chargers they should be allowed to put them up if they wish and charge wherever they want just like gas.

The giant Walmart parking lots with all the solar panels on the roof may be a better choice for car charging .

It should be no brainer. Now, your regular gas station close to home? Probably not, yet. But, big gas stations with amenities, they are on board with that.

Petro-Canada ( owned any Suncor) has put about four chargers avg, in every Petro-Canada gas station along the Trans-Canada highway from coast to coast. There is one next to the McDonalds in Canmore and I have never seen a car charging there.

Electric vehicles are the future. Yet ICE vehicles will be here for decades as well.

Should all gas stations be mandated to have chargers? Is having 1-2 chargers minimum reasonable?

I think so.

Set the example. Buy/build a gas station, and install as many EV chargers as you see fit. If it's a viable idea, you'll be a great success.

I'm not aware of a mandate for Gas stations to sell diesel or E-85 or anything other than gasoline. In fact, I'm sure they are not mandated to sell more than one grade of gas if they don't want to. Those that do so know that there is a market for the product. So I can't imagine a mandate for charging ports.

I do imagine a future where the gas station as we know it will decline, and cars are re-energized while we shop, eat, walk around and stretch our legs...

They have some outdoor picnic tables, but nothing indoor at the last time i was at a buc

I was reading something about Buc-ee's where there was a complaint that there was no indoor or outdoor seating. I wasn't sure. I've only seen one vid of a visit and the location I saw had no outdoor seating, but lots of parking spots and trash cans.

Bucees has started putting in some …
Buc'ees makes sense as it's the Gas Pro Shop of C-stores.

But most c-stores are quick in-and-out arrangements.
Shopping locations, movie theaters and other such venues, restaurants, grocery stores and the like where someone is likely to be there 30 min or more, sure.

Even Rest Areas on Interstates. Encourage people to stop for 30 minutes and rest, etc.

Apparently 7 states require E10, but beyond that it just seems they’re offering what people want which would explain why some are adding chargers.

I’ve been to gas stations that don’t offer premium. I don’t pump fuel there. It’s very rare to see it not available.

The largest Tesla Supercharger setup anywhere is at the Harris Ranch Inn and Restaurant near Coalinga, California. It used to be part of the Harris Ranch Beef empire before that got sold off to another beef company, but the family kept the retail business. But they went into a partnership with Tesla years ago when they still operated the ranching business. It seemed like a strange partnership, but it certainly made sense in terms of drivers between San Francisco and Los Angeles stopping for a meal (I've been there many times).

They have hydrogen filling too. I suppose it's pretty convenient if someone is driving a Mirai on I-5.

That really depends. In California the most that one might find is vending machines, and I've been burned when the coffee vending machine was actually out of coffee and spit out only coffee whitener in hot water. I think I was in Washington state once where there was a volunteer group that was authorized to provide free coffee, but there were no other amenities other than bathrooms and water. I've heard in other parts of the world or the US there are publicly-owned roadside travel plazas that lease spaces to businesses for the benefit of travelers.

Looks like an interesting place. It's one of those where the market made the installation of chargers make financial sense for them.
