Stubby Revolver also, I suppose.

My 53 yo close up vision has really gone lousy. I used to have exemplary vision all around. 20/15 and better! I wear glasses at the PC, reading, any work actually - but glasses are just an aid - glasses are not perfect for many reasons I won't go into here.
The glasses I have now are somewhat refined after 5 plus years of messing with prescriptions. They are progressive lenses that allow me to walk about and see at a medium distance - even at a distance where I need no correction. However, I can still see 20/15 like an eagle at 2 yards and beyond without my glasses. You young and vision blessed guys have it made.

Now here's the stupid part. Learning to see through progressive lenses actually trains your eyes in some odd ways - the worst part IMHO, it makes shooting a short hand gun very tough. My eye tries to focus on both sights and even the sights and the target. Interesting that my longer barrel Blackhawk is just long enough that with my unaided eye I can focus on the front sight, and shoot fine.

So - anyway. Any tricks or tips?

Should I try and shoot with my progressive lens glasses? I'll need goggles over the top me thinks.

Speak up glasses wearing shooters. Thanks!

I faced the same thing near the end of my career with the Dallas Police. The best thing for me was to shoot without any correction, just my shooting glasses. It seemed like I learned to compensate for the fact that the sights were blurry. Continue to focus on the sights. I switched from a weaver stance to fully outstretched arms and that helped also. After I retired I was starting to get cataracts so I got crystal lens implants. Now I see near and far again.

I don't have the problems you are having... yet. I turn 30 this month.
My Grandfather and Father have bifocals, I think they tried transitions and decided that bifocals were easier to use and that they are easier for the optomatrist to get the prescription correct.

I do however shoot with my glasses on and no other goggles or extra protection over them.
My only advice is to buy your ammo in bulk, reload, practice like crazy, and keep us informed of what you find.

That is everyones problem over 50 years old, try to focus on the front sight only . I am considering a grip laser. a snubbies sight radius doesn't help accuracy at all. Practice as much as possible .Practicing doesn't help me improve at all but it is fun!!!. Snubbies are best up close.

Take your gun to the eye Dr and have a set made just for shooting. My Dr is a shooter and fixed me up with a great pair.
