Shell Helix Ultra 5W-30 SP DEXOS1 GEN-3

Hello BITOG community,

Recently had a VOA done on Shell's: Helix Ultra 5W30 SP DEXOS1 GEN-3 Oil available in Australia. This may be broadly similar (likely identical) to the Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 available in North America. As both TDS have the same values: Helix and Pennzoil

Seems to be a difficult oil to get hold of in Australia as it's not commonly available at retail, but Viva-Energy sell direct to consumer from their website. Oddly for Australia only in 4L bottles (5L is common here.)

Shell Australia (Viva Energy) source their GTL oils from the the Tsing-Yi blending plant in Hong Kong (which they own) where a large volume of their GTL base stock is processed.

Nice Moly (58 ppm), Zinc (845 ppm) is right at the top of what you can expect from a modern SP / GF-6 oil, while viscosity (KV100 = 9.73 cSt) is right at the lower end of the 30 grade viscosity scale (9.3 to 12.5 cSt).

This is what I would run if my car spec'd 0W20.

I agree....I have some PUP 5w30 which I'll probably run in my Focus which spec's 5w20.
