I bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan two months ago and did the first oil change at 274 miles. The bike calls for a 15w50 oil. I bought some Motul 5100 15w50 for $12.99 a liter. I saw Advance Auto near me stocks the Shell Advance Ultra 4T for $12.99 a quart. It seems to be a pretty good price for a full synthetic. The price of the Motul 7100 is $6.00 more a liter over the Shell. Is the Motul 7100 worth the higher price over the Shell or Motul 5100 at $12.99 a quart/liter?

I've heard Mystik 15W50 HDEO works really well in bikes as well, if you wanted to save some money.

But you could probably also run any 20W50 if you wanted to reduce shear. In fact Mobil1 VTwin 20W50 is an odd MC oil that was shown to increase in kV100 with use.

I do notthink your engine is very demanding on oil: low revs + low power.
However:
different oil may give you different gear change feel (better or worse!)
IF I am not mistaken, your engine is air cooled(?); if so I personally only use FS if possible purely because of the engine heat.
PS isn't first oil change @ 274 miles a little too soon?
Mobil T 15w50 rocks
