Keep in mind he was helping his Grandmother with this transaction, and was able to save her from all the tricks and complete the sale. Getting ticked off and walking out on principle is fine if it is just you and you don't mind perpetually shopping for a car, but why upset your Grandmother? She's happy, she got van she wanted and life goes on.

Yeah, we found the exact model, color, mileage, and price she wanted. It was worth toughing through it. This was the Airpark Dodge dealership in North Scottsdale. She lives in West Phoenix so you know how far it is. Where'd you buy your Jeep?

Also, I sent the dealer an email explaining everything that happened. Hopefully I'll get an email or a call back.

The F&I guy was doing exactly what he was told to do. If you get a reply it won't mean squat. Why does buying a car have to be this way? My sleazy experience was in Prescott, I was walking but my wife didn't want to go through it all again somewhere else.

Glad you were there for grandma Nick, good guy!

Bill Luke, I was less than impressed and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The car before the Jeep was a Cadillac, that dealer was amazing and the best experience I have ever had buying a car.

Nick, you did good and your Grandmother will love the van. That 7yr/100K warranty will be nice to protect her from potential expensive issues with the power accessories on this van once it ages.

This is why someone in the know has to accompany someone not familiar with the car buying process. I get roped into this from time to time for family members. That particular dealer sounds EXTRA shady. I've never encountered that level of shadiness.

One thing about that van, is the brakes are incredible. It really does stop on a dime.

Yep, the HD brakes are awesome and they did some great suspension tweaks to these vans for 2012+. You'll find it handles quite well also.

FWIW, at 48K miles on our 2013 I fully expected to have to replace the front brakes and bought new hardware in preparation. I pulled them apart and they were barely worn. I cleaned everything up and re-installed the factory pads.

It's amazing to me that shady dealers can stay in business these days with the Internet and more of the competition going to no haggle pricing.

Our local no haggle place doesn't get a lot of margin on each individual car but they just kill the traditional dealers on volume.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it, shopping for my new WRX, one of the first dealers I emailed came back with a quote for $300 below invoice and offered to deliver it on a flatbed at no extra charge to me, 340 miles away! I don't see how they can be selling it that cheap.

End of month incentives? I've read that sometimes the manufacturer (or even the dealership owner I guess) will give a substantial amount to the dealership (or to the salesperson) if they hit a certain target. Quick sell at a minor loss may well be made up by that bonus.
