Shannen Doherty dead @ 53

I lost my brother @44. The Doctors told us younger people have a rough time of it because they are warriors; their young bodies fight the inevitable. We were taught to help him (all of us) with acceptance. It nearly killed my parents as well; they were never the same.

RIP pretty lady. No more suffering.

She had breast cancer that came back. I read somewhere that even after treating cancer and going into remission, the reason the cancer cells grew where they did still exists. So likely to come back even if it is many years later.

My mother had breast cancer when I was eighteen. She had a mastectomy of the involved breast. I am now sixty seven and she still lives on her own with no recurrence. Cancers appear to be highly individual in their etiology and prognosis.
It is a shame for someone so young to have been taken by what should have been treatable disease.

Diag in 2016? Aren't you considered cured after 5 years
Cured of the condition you were being treated for, yes. There's no guarantees that that condition or another cancer (through radiation and imaging you get a ton of radiation exposure) won't come along down the road. You just live life and hope for the best. Currently at year 2.5 myself.
