Shaeffer Oil beats others for my Honda 1.5 TDI 2018 Earth Dreams Engine......

Time out. Folks this is out of control. I want to satisfy the people who need something. Here it is.... I am saying it now.... Not even trying be a smarty.

"I have no technical reason, this is just my opinion and or casual observation." Or, "I am simply speculating here with respect to cause-and-effect."

I AM RETIRED. I have so many medical issues I have begun to lie to folks when they ask me "how I am?" by saying "oh, I am ok". Hence I personally do not even get to change my own oil anymore. I pay my nephew to come around and do that for me these days and then we visit. YET I still check under the hoods of my vehicles weekly to do what I was always taught , a thing called predictive and preventive maintenance. One of my life long hobbies was collecting / restoring / working on my own and others autos. I am sorry I kicked a hornets nest in a site I did not realize was so technical / investigative / results and proof driven. This is YOUR site and that is YOUR privilege. I do not have the energy or the drive at this point in my life to take samples and send my oil off and investigate etc.... YET, I totally agree that all of you guys who have responded are right in your comments about zero technical proof etc... Also that all of your suggestions of what you would do to try to come up with an answer are very well thought out, very knowledgeable, and hit the bull's eye for investigation and proof. No formal industrial mechanical or chemical engineering training. Just self taught plus trained by a host of fine older men who would go out of their way to pass on their knowledge to anyone willing to learn. I feel there is not enough of that going on anymore and we as a country are suffering from that type of world. You guys are 100% right. I offer you zero proof of my recent experience with a new (niche / boutique oil.) I was a bit surprised / humored by a comment, something like? Gee, "first post ever and already pushing a new type oil?" LOL so I did not pay my dues, post enough times or? so how dare I? LOL please? It all started with Amsoil years ago and I have had great success using that one. Now I am onto Shaeffer's due to comments I read across the internet and (don't freak if wrong) I think on one of the side threads of BITOG sites a while back. If I had no fear of problems due to this LSPI turbo issue I would never have even looked into anything since Amsoil has proven itself to me over 30 years. I surrender. Ok. No harm / no foul or hard feelings to any of you. It is not important enough (to me) to prove anything except to myself that I am no longer getting a pint or more fluid out during a routine oc than what I put in the car. Since it is that way. I will keep my trap shut and allow those that it is important to have their say. Please have fun, investigate , sample , prove what you need to prove to who you need to. That is everyone's right. I will keep my thoughts and observations to myself since I did not get what I expected out of posting here. Simple comments and experiences from car folks about their oil choices and reasons why and your preferences. PEACE.... Please , no arguing over my faux pas of stepping in something I have no energy for.

I like taking my FORMULA to some local car shows not only to show my car but to see all of the other beautiful cars/vehicles that people have. I've met some great folks at these shows and l love hearing the stories behind their rides. Heres a recent pic of my Firebird FORMULA from a local show.

Absolutely love your car. You deserve to be proud for owning and keeping a piece of great American workmanship alive. Take care.

Sorry to hear about your health issues. I've had a couple close friends go through the same decline and I know how frustrated they were not being able to do what they could previously.

Just spitballing, but your nephew, would he be interested in any of this stuff? He's clearly comfortable changing your oil, could be a fun project (or maybe not, as I said, just spitballing) for you two.

Anyways, I understand your situation and wish you all the best.

The only deviation with all the other oils are, they did not contain high Ester. My thinking is the Ester is sealing my rings better, the Stage 2 is flooding the cylinder to a point of critical mass.
Sealing maybe, but cleaning them is most likely. I went back to redline and the only time I have any issues is when I get into the 5 and 6 k rpm area as I get a slight consumption or fuel flood. Gotta learn that me pushing the redline for 10k oci I need to warrant a more civilized motoring expierence.

i tried shaeffer's 5w50 in my lawnmower. my bench press went up 50 lbs and i had to throw my viagra stash in the trash. THE STUFF IS AMAZING!!!
It works fantastic on psoriasis too. Well that's what someone, a friend of a friend of a guy someone knew once😁

Thanks OVERKILL for the your words. You were 100% correct about something. I over reacted to somethings. Of course as you said many replies and questions to me were totally polite. Only a few were and are having fun, making fun of my ideas or experiences. Its a free country and is their right to do that as well. If that blows their dress up... they should enjoy the air down there! LOL. Take care. Enjoy your Sunday.
P.S. to the person who wants to know my advice about global warming..... Yeah, he should spend 3-4 hours a day in the woods hugging and talking to the trees. Happy trees may eliminate some of the smog and pollution out there. (y)

No, It isn't cleanliness, my valve train is as clean as it was when new. No oil has been past 3,500 miles in the car (@ 28,000 miles today) and many have been 3,000, all high end oils.

You are a good good guy Overkill....

Great post. . Very thoughtful and insightful.

I'm glad you are here.

I want to back up what bbhero has said about Overkill and that I am not only glad they are both here with the rest of you folks(y). But, I am also thankful just getting to be allowed to be a part of the BITOG site. I been following and coming to these pages and comments for years to learn from many of you but simply do not normally join any type of social media sites. I am glad I finally did join up and look forward to learning more from you all. Regardless if we know it or not , there is always someone out there that we can learn from and then people we can help to maybe just understand or look at things differently when we least expect it.

So many snobs here. Why can you let the guy be happy with his oil. His car. His choice. Ya'll should be ashamed.

Go into a bodybuilding forum and start telling people you increased your max deadlift 15 lbs. by mixing your protein shake with Perrier instead of tap water.

Do you think you're gonna get a bunch of guys saying "Great! I'm happy for you!" or will the general sentiment be "That's not how it works, bro"?

I don't care what oil the guy runs. Just like mixing your protein powder with Perrier: If that's what floats your boat, cool. Attempting to pass off suspect claims as fact? Well, that's a different story. There are enough people on BITOG that know better or at least know enough to question it. Outlandish claims with no backing don't get far without someone calling them out.

Certain combinations of additives and base oils can help to reduce the wear potential when fuel dilution is present, and have been incorporated in formulated oils, but no oil can "stop" fuel dilution.
But it could "reduce" fuel dilution could it not? Better ring seal?

As others have commented, fuel system (injector) programming (in the ECU), short trip driving, excessive idling, and some other factors can contribute to fuel dilution, but no oil can stop a situation that is attributed to conditions outside the purview of the oil.

But you side stepped my question. If certain oils are better at reducing blow-by then wouldn't that also be reducing fuel dilution? Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I've gathered from all my time here and on other sites.

I did not. My answer is entirely consistent with answers given to others.

Now you have added the additional topic of blow-by.

Fuel dilution, as has been stated before many times, is a product of the engine's fuel delivery system and programming, short drives, idling, etc.

Excessive blow-by is usually a condition of insufficient piston ring sealing. During combustion, high pressure on the top side of the piston pushes combustion gasses, as well as droplets of oil and fuel, past the piston rings and into the crankcase. If the fuel delivery system has a rich condition during the conditions described above, then fuel dilution will occur.

So then regardless of what oil you use, it will have no affect whatsoever regarding blow-by? I was under the impression it did but I stand corrected.
