Hello everyone. Pulled this filter off of a gm 3.6 earlier today, I believe it was a 2020? Chevy traverse. These filters are PGI made, although I've pulled numerous car quest filters off of vehicles that take this style. I've only ever seen this on the gm 3.6 and one 3.5 ecoboost f150.

highly doubt that happened in service. likely was like that when new.

Did you cut it open? Wonder if it uses a leaf spring instead of a coil spring, and the guts were not tight enough, which will make the ADBV try to pop out like that due to the oil pressure dP across the element.

Their website shows UPG63R. Does the e2500 have a bypass in the filter? Just curious. I thought that engine had a bypass in the block. I know it shouldn’t matter, but RA is showing conflicting part numbers for several GM V6s that should all be the same.

@ZeeOSix i did not cut it open, too busy today and didn't get a chance. I did cut one open about a year ago, and it had a coil spring, although we have gotten some new batches in that look slightly different. If I remember I'll cut one open this weekend for fun when the bossman is gone and post pics

I know for a fact it wasn't like that when new, as I had worked on it last and am very thorough at inspecting filters before installing them. This is a common issue on the Gm 3.6, I've personally seen it more than 10-15 different times

I believe on the Traverses and Acadias. I know at some point they switched the filter from being underneath the exhaust manifold to being underneath, and they changed the filter slightly to handle more pressure
