Service Champ High Performance Synthetic HP4459, unexpected find

Amazing looking filter and finally another wire backed option!! Definitely PGI made. Where did you buy the case? And do they have a 7317 equivalent?

Only 6607 size since jobber filters are usually one size to fit all. OF4622 / HP4622 is the crossref.

As for any comparison to FE, 'for me' there is none. Current bypass piece seal area of the latter is a fail, and that's with or without the recent pics showing potting area pleat stress. Topic filter has endcap integral bypass, so imo far superior to Champ Labs seal area on FE and others.
Finally someone here gets what I was trying to show the other day. First time seeing a FRAM wire backed filter fail because of extreme cheapening going on with First Brands.

Base plate looks just like the Hyundai/Kia filter.
Same baseplate style and hole pattern as the Subaru OEM as well.
Wow! This filter looks amazing. Would love to get some for our Hyundai/Kia vehicles. I still have a few OEM's left, but this would be a great replacement.

I see a few Ebay listings for cases for around $60. One instance was $31, but sold. I imagine that was yours OP!

:)

Where did you buy these for $35/case?

Yeah that was probably me, got it from some liquidation sale on Ebay. I service a few KIA, Honda & Subaru of friends and family so this fits the bill. Was expecting a run of the mil PG made filter, unexpectedly got something different in a good way haha.

how do you guys know they are connected to PG ?.. Afaik the far majority of the Asian factories from any of those countries use the core with holes and also a coil spring with very few using a leaf spring. I don't think I have seen any Asian filters with louvers but could be some out there. Stamp on top totally different also.

Remember the new Mobil filters look just like the ones from the factories that PG contracts but PG themselves admitted to having nothing to do with Mobil 1 filters according to another member here that had a phone call with them.
I was basing it on the VAFI/PGI partner list which lists Service Champ.

Bonus photo, comparing assembly quality to a FRAM FE8688 and Tokyo Roki Subaru OEM filter. Need to put up a display shelf of all the virgin filters in my garage. This one is worthy of it lol.

Could be possible there are more than one distributor of filters branded as Service Champ, or maybe the distributor has changed, and old info is all over the place due how often the oil filter world changes. Mobil 1 just went from M+H to Highline Warren. Who makes what where and distributes them is a tangled ever changing web it seems.

I can't find any connection between Highline Warran and PGI.

"Highline Warren is currently majority owned by Pritzker Private Capital. The company was formed through the acquisition of Highline Aftermarket and Warren Distribution by Pritzker Private Capital in 2020. The merger combined two previously separate companies, with Highline Aftermarket and Warren Distribution being acquired by Pritzker Private Capital on the same day."

"Premium Guard Inc. (PGI) is owned by its CEO and Founder, Anan Bishara. Trive Capital also partnered with PGI, providing a structured capital solution. PGI acquired Tenneco's global aftermarket filters business, including manufacturing facilities and brands like Interfil and Engine Clean, in October 2020. Additionally, PGI successfully acquired IPC Global Solutions in January 2022."

It would be nice if PG would go to Thailand and dump China... Denso has some great quality coming out of Thailand...I rarely ever get a Vietnamese PG or EG in my area
Might have to switch to the new M1 and get it at Walmart in person

Looking to dump anything Chinese
Going to be hard to dump anything Chinese from inside a Wal-Mart or, Chinamart.

No idea, OF4622 only crosses to a 6607 / 4612 Which are Honda/Nissan aftermarket applications
When I search for my vehicle, they recommend the HP4622. I guess I’ll call customer service to confirm accuracy. When I cross-ref the that number, it is recommended for applications that spec the 7317, etc. 🤔

@Glenda W. @ltslimjim

My reply earlier was a little half baked since I thought you meant the 4459.
The 4622 & 4612 is the jobbers cross to the 6607 / 7317, most shops uses a one size filter and generally favor the smaller ones over a 7317 size. I pulled a Mighty TL4612 from a Honda long ago and it was kinda in between a 6607 and 7317 size.

Ah, so it would appear this 4622 would be the same OD as the 7317 essentially but a shorter size; aka the 6607...if that's the case I don't believe I'll be purchasing them since I do extended OCIs and don't want to reduce the SQ ft of total media.

Hmm, I called Service Champ customer service because the HP4622 only listed the thread size, and the lady I spoke with said the other model OF4622's details would be the same canister size details most likely; despite not being listed, so its not as short as I thought. 3" It's not quite the super tiny jobber filter but not the height of the 7317.

Question: Is that because the 7317 typically has more guts for the bypass valve design than what we see here in the cut ups?

If you use their “Part Search” feature at the address below :

For the OF4622…it provides these details.
