Service Champ High Performance Synthetic HP4459, unexpected find

Wow! This filter looks amazing. Would love to get some for our Hyundai/Kia vehicles. I still have a few OEM's left, but this would be a great replacement.

I see a few Ebay listings for cases for around $60. One instance was $31, but sold. I imagine that was yours OP!

A few filters they carry...

It would be nice if PG would go to Thailand and dump China... Denso has some great quality coming out of Thailand...I rarely ever get a Vietnamese PG or EG in my area
Might have to switch to the new M1 and get it at Walmart in person

Looking to dump anything Chinese

The box says reduced friction on cold startups. How?
Must be thinking synthetic is slippery and impervious to the oil while non synthetic is like string, which absorbs oil so restricts more. Sort of exaggeration based on the think system, but sounds sort of true.
For humor, not criticizing:

Appears to be a well made filter. It's a Highline Warren filter so a PGI filter.
I don't think Highline Warren and PGI have any association. Think both act as middle man "umbrella companies" to manufacture and distribute multiple branded filters . They may use some of the same factories.

Exactly. OP filter made by Premium Guard
Amazing looking filter and finally another wire backed option!! Definitely PGI made.

how do you guys know they are connected to PG ?.. Afaik the far majority of the Asian factories from any of those countries use the core with holes and also a coil spring with very few using a leaf spring. I don't think I have seen any Asian filters with louvers but could be some out there. Stamp on top totally different also.

Remember the new Mobil filters look just like the ones from the factories that PG contracts but PG themselves admitted to having nothing to do with Mobil 1 filters according to another member here that had a phone call with them.

Interestingly you can see the image @Zee09 posted showing Mobil 1 from PG account. 🤔

If that glue inside the filter tube was in a Purolator this thread would be vitriolic.

hey if Purolator would knock it off with louvers that might or might not be open in year 2025 🤭 🤭 plus quit using the black glue that apparently can break off.. and not have any wide gaps where media can possibly tear then I would buy that new filter they offer at Walmart.

Alright, here's the autopsy. Very good assembly quality, counted 56 pleats! There is a metal crimp seam on the inside facing the inner tube like how many PG filters are assembled. Media element height is 2 inches tall from endcap to endcap. As expected the can is thick like many PG made filters and comes with a coil spring.

Since this is a multi-vehicle spec filter it's bypass rating isn't going to be as high as a Subaru OEM one.
I measured a opening valve diameter of 3/8" of an inch and valve starts to crack open when applying 2 or more pounds of force. Estimating around 18 PSI when the valve starts to open.

Its sightly taller than both the Toyota and Subaru OEM filters roughly 3-1/8" inches high. Also fits on the same filter wrench cap as the OEM filters, 80mm 15 flute size.

All my federated filters are made in Korea

yes I saw that with the Motorcraft and Luber Finer on there as well. 🤔
Highline Warren is a middle man for the brands they show. The Motorcraft product is unknown, could be other parts beside oil filters with the Motorcraft brand name. Purolator (M+H) still makes the Motorcraft oil filters AFAIK. The new Mobil 1 filter is under Highline Warran, not PGI. Highline Warran is shown on Mobil's website for the warranty handler of the Mobil 1 filter. I called Highline Warran and they gave me the efficiency info. Talked about in other threads. Also possible that "Service Champ" could be distributed under two different middle man companies. The oil fllter world spider web isn't clear and changes constantly.

I called Highline Warren to get efficiency info on the new Mobil 1 oil filter. Highline Warran has no connection to Premium Guard Inc (PGI).

Highline Warran is a distributor of the "Prime Guard" filter brand, but that's not a Premium Guard Inc filter ... they have their own filter brand of "Premium Guard".
