Oil analysis AND extended engine life proves bypass filters are a benefit when used in conjunction with a full flow oil filter. It's never wise to remove the full flow filter.
By all means install a Bypass filter ~ 7000 miles was mentioned in the 1st post ~ quite a good amount of abrasives ~ wee things ~ will be in that oil at that time ```
When your oil is cold ~ even in Texas ~ the valve in you OEM oil filter can open to allow oil to flow ~ past the particles caught by the filter paper ~ some can be picked up ~ and returned to the oil pan ~ and be back in the game ```
Some people don't yet know ~ that only a bit of the engine oil is ~ taken aside to be cleaned ~ bypassing the OEM filter ~ that they are not hooked up in series ```
There is no need to worry about a filter clogging and starving the engine bearings ```
