Scored a Small Generator for Cheap.

Replace the Torch spark plug with NGK or Denso iridium for even better performance
Got one today.

If you want it to be always ready, run it for about a half hour once a month, and put a load on it. I use a hairdryer or a heat gun. The reason why you put a load on it is because the rotor has to have some residual magnetism for it to make power, if that magnetism dissipates the generator will run but won't make AC power. It can be "flashed" by using a corded electric drill, that re-establishes the residual magnetism.
I recently converted all my small engines over to E0 fuel, there are only a few gas stations that sell it, and they won't fill your car with it but you can buy it for small engines....

I use e-0 fuel, I keep the tank full so there is little moisture laden air in the tank. I swap the fuel out every 6 months and burn it in my car or lawn mower.
I start it up every 2 months and then cut off the fuel valve so it dies.
I don't have issues with my ope engines.

Lots of problems are caused by the fact that gas does go stale, finding an additive package that you are comfortable with will make your life easier, your problem solving skills, got you a deal

Before the snow hit a neighbor lady was cleaning her garage and offered my son a nice lawnmower and pressure washer. Said they were only a few years old and looked like they were just out of the box. Told him they wouldn’t run. He brought them to the house and within a couple hours we had them running like a champ. Same scenario with both fuel tanks full of stale gas and some gum in the carburetors. People need to realize they must run them dry at the end of the season or use some stabilizer in the tank.
He offered to give them back to her and she politely declined.

I have a line on another different coworker with a non running generator, she wants to get rid of. May pick it up tomorrow!

Nice score, OP.

Keep in touch with that coworker. Sounds like he’s neglecting preparing a 2nd, even larger generator for you to take off of his hands.
I got a free generator from a different coworker. She could not start it. Sat for 2+ years
Looks like a real cheapie.

Not sure what I will do with it when I get it running. It's only 4250 running watts , so a bit bigger than my HF 4375.

Not sure how it compares to the Harbor Freight generators.
Brand is A-ipower. I have never heard of it.
Looks like it's a 5000watt model. 240v

Only 136 hours.

Will go into the carb this weekend. No rust in the tank.

Pics.

Nice score! Float bowl looked like my next door neighbor's Champion after it had sat for at least a year. He wondered why it wouldn't start . Float moved fine, fuel needle was still good, but main jet was clogged. Ran a cleaning wire through it, drained the tank, filled with E0 and half a bottle of Ethanol Shield. Started on second pull and let it eat. Told him that I'd be happy to service it for storage anytime he wanted for a six-pack of my choosing 😁.
The mechanic in a bottle has several small engine places that swear by it.

I usually empty the tank of old fuel, then clean the tank with E-15 and berryman B-12, might start using E-85. Just to absorb any moisture in these units that have sat unused.

I slosh it around, and even turn the genset upside down to coat the tank( oil drained first).

Then i use my hand held transfer pump to empty the tank back out, and put E-0 in there with some TCw-3.

Haven't used it any of my OPE yet, but revived 3 chain saws, a couple string trimmers, and an old B&S powered mower with it. It actually DOES work, especially if has an impulse carb with lots of rubber stuff inside.

I couldn’t find an ngk or Denso locally. I actually only checked advance auto. I grabbed an autolite 4194 for $2.49 and fired it up today. Runs like a top. I always had good luck with autolite and most small engines aren’t picky.
