I bought this a few weeks ago. This thing is amazing at draining gas!
I got the 3/8” version. My theory was that the smaller size would fit down into the low corner of the OPE engine's fuel tank better.

I used it to drain my generator after a recent power outage (I tipped the generator a bit and pushed the siphon to the low spot in the tank). Then I ran the engine and it ran dry after only 5 minutes. That means this siphon got all but a few ounces of fuel out!

As a test, I used it to transfer a full 5gal gas can into the car. It took about 5 min to empty the gas can.

I let it air dry, then coiled it and put it in a gallon Ziploc bag for dust-free storage. This thing works great.

I've been using them for years.. after a few years the hose will harden up and need replacing from gas exposure.

they are also a pain in cold temps.. as they dont flex very well in the cold.

I get 100's of "free" gallons of gas with grocery rewards so lots of gas can use (have to get 30gal at a time)

All was well until my 2019 jeep that has capless design.. it holds that hose like a chinese finger trap.. have to use funnel and pour again.. instead of just setting the gas can on trash can for 5min and using that shaker siphon hose.

I have used these siphon hoses and I also own a battery powered pump that works slick as well. I picked one up at Menard's

For my generator I put Stabil in the fuel at every use and leave it full. I also use E0 in all my small engine equipment. My new generator has an auto-off that runs the float bowl out of gas for storage, my old generator, I just turned the fuel valve off and let the float bowl run out. Unplug anything from the generator prior to doing this to avoid the cycling on electrical appliances.

I'd be really careful with that pump and gas... Here is why:

"A Lewiston man died after being engulfed by fire while working on his car, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.
Officials say 57-year-old Gary Labonte died Saturday evening at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Fire investigators say Labonte was draining the gasoline tank in his car in preparation for replacing the fuel pump.
An electric spark from the pump he was using to drain the tank caused the gasoline to explode.
The mishap took place on the lawn outside the apartment house he lives in at 15 Cottage Street in Lewiston.
Labonte was standing next to four gas cans he was using to store the drained fuel when the explosion took place and he was engulfed in fire.
Neighbors tried to help before he was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston before he was taken to Maine Medical Center."

I do this with my lawn mower. It typically only sits without running for 3-4 months over the winter.

I like to store my generators dry. No telling how long they are going to sit. If I left the tank full, after a long storage period I would need to drain the old gas and add new gas before starting. I'm not a "run it every month" guy.

I do add Stabil (blue) and TCW-3 (1oz/5gal) to all OPE gas. This way, when I drain the tank and carb, there is a light oil film that prevents rust/corrosion during storage in the garage.

Fair point... I use mine almost monthly between the camper and my son racing so fuel going bad is only a small concern over the winter months...
